Now that Brexit is ?been there done that? thoughts turn to the trade talks. Cake and eat it. Yum yum.

I?m keeping out of this thread as many of the posts above are so 2016 and 2017 and 2018 and 2019. It?s a new decade folks, shake hands and take advantage of all the opportunities ahead. PS if ?the rebate is taken off the ?350m before it's paid, i.e. we paid ?250m up front...? then it?s not a rebate - it?s an abatement

Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What is the point of Johnson making a law to stop > extending the transition period? Anyone? Probably because Barnier has been appointed as chief negotiator again. The old algorithm on legs has probably already put in an order from Germany for hundreds of pallet loads of Staedtler highlighter pens so he and his team can waste the next 10 years colouring in paragraphs red, amber and green

Worth a fiver on Yvette Cooper?

It will be interesting watching what happens in Scotland. Alex Salmond?s court case in January could do a lot of harm to the SNP and partly explains Sturgeon?s haste. More interesting perhaps is a point made by Andrew Marr this morning. If, or when, Boris agrees to an Independence vote for Scotland the U.K. will probably have left the EU. Scotland would then be faced with voting to leave the U.K. while also being outside the EU. Squeaky bum time.

Oh yes, that as well

Possibly pk but don?t forget the krankies brought their independence referendum two years before the Brexit ref, not as a result of it

Sounds simple Alan. However we?ve seen the difficulties in disentangling ourselves from 40 years of EU membership. How much more difficult to unravel 400 years of Union? What belongs to the Crown? Defence and coastal waters? An economic border between England and Scotland if we?re not in the EU? Tariffs for cross-border trade? I don?t think this has been thought through

There?s something dodgy about that photo that I can?t quite put my beetroot-stained paws on

Well I agree with you on the whole. For example, when Jo Swinson comes on telly I mute the sound. I can?t stand listening to her because I think she?s a bit thick. But beware of so-called ?experts?, especially economic ones. Remember being encouraged to join the euro? Or triple A ratings for Credit Default Swaps and Collateralised debt obligations?
-
?...They aren't economic or healthcare experts so why interview them about it?...? Bit elitist that DC. Why does a person need to be an ?expert? to hold a credible opinion? There are probably many people who live at number 10 who do not know what the law of diminishing returns means but know the economic reality of shrink-flation and struggling to cope on their wages or the healthcare consequences of being on hospital waiting lists for a year or more.

Off topic I know but I supported the Iraq war It?s no use slagging off Brendan O?Neill above if you supported Sadam Hussien Back on topic - why are Remainers whinging about Boris? crap deal when the surrender Act sent Boris in to negotiate with the EU like a trussed up chlorinated chicken?
-
Sorry TE44, I don?t understand your question. Just to be clear, I think it is a very noble cause but it needs to be realistic. Don?t forget even the tyres on our bikes are derived from petroleum byproducts and it will be many years before we can mine asteroids to replenish depleted rare-earth metals (but that will require sending many rockets up into the atmosphere). We need a scientific revolution to achieve XR?s aims.

Does it really matter what I think should happen?
-
Honestly Sephiroth and pk I?ve no idea what will happen. The current thinking seems to be the EU will give us an extension until next summer to allow a confirmatory referendum to take place which is being planned by Remainers who might introduce a bill for this as early as next week. Unless of course Boris has a dastardly plan

Is he a remainer?

Does it explain how Boris will obey the law but not ask for an extension?

?parliament has had a (limited) opportunity to ask questions on brexit planning and yellowhammer and the country had an opportunity to hear the same? Wow! ?tell me one thing that makes talk about pigeons anything other than rubbish? Treat it as an allegory pk - a device to simplify a broader matter. Stepdown is concerned that Boris must obey the law. What does the Act say about non-delivery? Perhaps you can advise
-
You are worried about rubbish? Tell me one thing that has been achieved since the Remainers won the Supreme Court case and Parliament was re-convened. One thing please pk

Had to smile this morning. Sky News was interviewing some of the eco demonstrators. A lovely couple of girls - the type who?ve been taken on lots of foreign holidays by plane by their parents - shackled to ... wait for it ... an oil drum. Others chained up beneath a lorry - running on petrol or diesel no doubt. Oh the irony
