  1. Hi EDFers I've been trying to find a campsite within two hours drive of us that is open in November. I've contacted several places that advertise as being open all year (via pitchup.com), but have either not had a response, or they are saying that they close on 31 Oct. Can anyone recommend a lovely campsite that allows open fires, has good walks and good pubs nearby? E
  2. Morning Just seen that The Patch on LL has had a paintjob and is now called The Lordship. Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but does anyone know what the deal is? E
  3. We've had good experiences with the Church St Hotel in Camberwell.
  4. At least a year ago, there was a thread started on here looking for people to volunteer to help out elderly neighbours during the bad snow we had last winter (or perhaps the winter before that?) and it resulted in a group of people getting together and forming an action group. I'm now looking for that thread and it's owner. I've tried to search for it but have had no luck. Can anyone help?
  5. Having lived here for years, we've only just discovered the bowling green within Peckham Rye Park. It's only open from April to September so we we've missed most of the season, but does anyone know if there is a league? I've had a look online but can't find the answer.
  6. I just dropped some things off to a place in Melbourne Grove to be repaired so you may want to try there. I can't remember the name of the store but they were helpful, friendly and are turning around the work quickly.
  7. Hubby and I went from Forest Hill to Stratford yesterday. We left around 7 in the morning and came back around 5 in the evening. Although it was very busy, but we were able to get onto the overland/tube easily and there was no problem with our travel there or back home.
  8. I think it's a great idea, and something we would use a lot. You'll have to think carefully about ticket prices I suppose as it only costs a fiver for a ticket down the road at peckhamplex. As well as indie films, I'd like to see some good foreign films shown too.
  9. Hi James Is there any way we can get some more morning classes going at the gym? There are two studios and if they each had a 0700 and a 0815 class, that would be 10 classes a week that commuters could possibly get to. I've asked about this at the front desk of the gym but am met with the usual shrug of the shoulders. I don't usually have difficulty getting into the classes I want, but I do book them a week in advance which I know is difficult for some users. E
  10. Hi All We thoroughly enjoyed our first ever live xmas tree this year and now that the season has passed wondered if anyone knows if the council is collecting christmas trees this year, or what we should do with ours when we're done with it? We have a car so I'm happy to drive it somewhere to be mulched if thats ever an option? Thanks
  11. Hi All In previous years, shops on the Lane have had extended opening hours leading up to xmas and I wonder if anyone knows if there is a plan to do the same this year, and if so, on what date(s) it's likely to happen? E
  12. Hi all I'm looking to start a new web business (online marketplace) and I was looking for any tips/advice you may have. I have an appointment to see a web designer and I have a business plan mapped out, but has anyone out there started a web business from scratch that could offer any wisdom? E
  13. I've also posted this in 'wanted' but thought I would hedge by bets and pop it on here too... I'm getting married in January and my family (all adults) are travelling from abroad to attend. I would like them to stay in a house nearby while they're here and I wonder if anyone was interested in having a nice, clean, responsible family house sit for a couple of weeks. The dates would be around the 19th December until the 11th January. The house would need to be of a decent standard with good central heating (they're coming from the Southern Hemisphere so winter is going to be a challenge!) and in the Dulwich / East Dulwich are if possible. Please PM me if this is something you would be able to help us out with. We would of course be happy to pay for the stay and we can negotiate a rate. Thanks!
  14. I lived on Glengarry Road for 3 years and locked my bike on the street every day with no problems. It's not ideal but if you have no where else to store it, just make sure you invest in a really good chain and lock. I used to lock mine up with a chain that resembled a boat anchor!
  15. The Gowlett does have fab pizza. We ate just once at Il Mirto and our food was awful - burnt garlic bread with chunks of bitter raw garlic and the Chicken "special" that we watched them cook in the microwave! Bangers and Mash gets my vote too. Simple and tasty.
