  1. He deserved to be sacked after his atrocious performance at the beginning of the Libya campaign, he was a national embarrassment. Now that Libya has died down he can be safely dispatched.
  2. Has a mod gone rogue?
  3. Most dogs have gone over to the darkside http://i.imgur.com/uVxfg.jpg
  4. I happened to be passing the Drax power station the other day and thought of this thread. That area of Yorkshire is dominated by windmill farms or the station. I agree with Moos, the odd one is graceful and beautiful, but farms of them wreck landscapes as badly as pylons. Speaking of which why has it taken this long before someone had the idea to hold a competition to design a better looking pylon? Pylon Design Competition What does the EDF think of the shortlisted designs?
  5. It wouldn't surprise me at all now if England limped their way into another final. Their ability to do that is impressive in a way, but personally I'd rather see either Ireland or Wales get there playing decent rugby. I'd be interested to see Wilkinson at inside centre with Flood at flyhalf and drop Tindall, probably too late to change much though.
  6. ITV1
  7. Hoopers gets another vote from me. I went to the first game up there, a good breakfast and not too busy, I'm not sure I could cope with a crowd that early.
  8. Jacket Shorts I'm afraid you'll have to source the pith helmet yourself. One of my favourite shops in London, they even used to sell NBC suits, but appear to have sold out of those and I'm always runnung out of these.
  9. Sounds more like Major Mk2 and not just in the literal sense. StraferJack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > if he had showmanship he would be called "Blair Mk > 2" > > if he had great oratory skills he would be called > "Obama Mk 2" > > and both would be intended as put-downs > > I'm with Piers - I like him, I'm in the minority, > he won't win anything > > But I would be very interested in seeing how this > country did if he did get elected.
  10. A desperately immature tit revealing himself to be a desperately immature tit trying to sound clever, fortunately for him and unfortunately for the Beeb he doesn't work for a bank though.
  11. Not meant as a criticism of your post SJ just the net loons that like to have their say. Getting back to the original post though, apart from the excitable language, isn't he just saying there might be another crash, if there is some people will make money from it and the banks have decided Greece is a busted flush. I don't see what's too controversial about that, aren't there plenty of commentators expressing similar concerns?
  12. Well, I've just wasted far too much time reading the insane conspiracy theory ranting nutjobs in the comments section of SJ's initial link, until I came across one poster who described them all as the "irrationati". I haven't come across that one before and it has a better ring to it than plain old nutjobs, so not entirely wasted time, I suppose.
  13. uStill not sure you're getting my point MM. If you tax the overall tax take there is surprisingly little vuariation in what we all pay. The two exceptions are the very poor and the very wealthy. The poor pay very high levels of tax (in a R4 debate ome this tax yesterday the anti 50% side admitted someone on the minimum wage working 30 hours a week would pay a marginal rate of om average 73%), the wealthy (millions pa not ?150k). For the rest of us in between there is a slightly progressive slant to the tax take but not by much. It would be absurd to suggest taxing to equivalent marginal levels of utility (and no one is) but also wrong to suggest anyone is being taxed until their pips squeak. Apologies for errors etc currently typing on small phone as no broadband till Saturday
  14. MM you need to consider the overrall tax burden rather than just focusing on income tax, which leads to ridiculously misleading conclusions. The majority of taxes we pay are regressive in nature and for people near the bottom of the ladder income tax can be far from the biggest tax they pay. The idea the wealthy are being squeezed just isn't true.
  15. I played the last two Elder Scrolls games and was looking forward to the new one. Unfortunately my graphics card packed up the other day and although I found a spare in a shoe box on top of the wardrobe, it must be a late 90's early noughties vintage and looking at I don't think it's going to be upto the job.
  16. I pay Virgin ?21 a month for this and although you can get a BT line and broadband for less don't forget to factor in the cost of installation (?120 for BT I think). If you're not going to be there long that makes the BT option more expensive.
  17. I think that's harsh on Phillips. Southern hemisphere teams often seem to have a greater propensity for converting pressure to points. Priestland missing from in front of the posts, the forwards getting shoved off the ball on the SA 22 were lapses that cost them the game. Just not clinical enough and we see it time and again.
  18. I find a turbo shandy or two takes the nip out of the autumn air quite nicely.
  19. Looking at the draw, if there are no upsets, England will win their group and face France than Australia. A huge effort and a good dose of luck could see them in the final, unfortunately I think it will then require something not far short of a miracle. Windom (very jealous btw), Scotland v Georgia could be a great game. Ten more minutes in the last world cup and I reckon they would have beaten Ireland and Scotland's pack is not the biggest.
  20. Agree with Chippy here. It's worth reading the text of the ECHR. Europeans adopted a convention of qualified rights rather than absolute rights with good reason. Americans remain wedded to absolute rights because of their constitution and the pinko Europeans idea of human rights as the basis for moral authority in a secular age, smacks of godless communism.
  21. In Pacha Ibiza a few weeks back it was 13 euros for a bottle of San Miguel.
  22. Huguenot, don't some of the ideas on this thread seem rather familiar?

For your wifi issues have you considered using the mains?

Along with an unexpected interest in finance and claiming Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance as the last book he'd read. I agree with Jeremy re Tayyabs, it is very good but hardly a relaxing experience, even when the queueing is over and your finally inside. Better to leave a visit to the weekend in my experience.
  25. Has the Daily Mail been made aware of this? I think they should be told.
