  1. shower scene in Psycho jack nicholson bursting through door with axe in Shining exclaiming 'here's johnny' car chase in The French connection (always preferred this to the one in bullit)
  2. Hilary I have entered the London Marathon next year so I'll also be training for it from january on. It's my first time so I shall probably check out Dulwich park runners myself. I currently run 3 or 4 10km runs a week and did a half marathon in october. I will really try to kick on in jan and have been considering giving up drink completely until after marathon.
  3. On the self defence theme I think it can be dangerous to assume self defence classes can help in these situations. They can make you feel more confident then you ought to be and instead of doing the sensible thing and handing over your property you may feel brave enough to physically cahllenge your assailant and therefore up the ante of the encounter. Effective martial arts actually take years to learn, not just a few lessons, and even then there are no guarantees they will work in the street as this is such a totally different environment to the Dojo or gym.
  4. I'm certainly not advocating that you can never drop a class player who is in bad form. But this only is an option if you have a like for like replacement.I don't really feel England have adequate cover in this position as I think Ferdinand on a bad day is still better then Lescott or Upson on a good.
  5. I don't think Ferdinand should be dropped on the back of a couple of mistakes. He is proven quality and should therefore be allowed to play himself back into form. His mistakes are of judgement as opposed to a loss of pace or technique. Form is temporary and class is permanent.
  6. Wow Tweaser ! Are you single?(tu)
  7. I'm sorry Brendan. I wasn't trying to be facetious or rude. But whether you like it or not, they probably do have certain policies that would appeal to the working class.
  8. Other options Brendan ? Are we talking BNP ?
  9. According to Sky, Spanish Police said that no foul play is suspected and neither is suicide. He was apparently fit and healthy and was also known to be out partying that evening. The assumption. therefore, of a drug induced death is not a homophobic one.
  10. The current incumbents might leave a lot to be desired, but they are still a prefereable option to the Conservative party if you are working class. They have a working class tradition whereas the Conservatives don't. I support Tottenham Hotspurs and will do until I die, despite some of the crap that's managed or played for them. I could never support another team, especially their most bitter rivals, Arsenal. My support of the Labour party runs along the same lines.
  11. I am and will be Labour 'til I die. Despite their current guise they are still the party of the working classes. I am working class and always have been so I will never vote for anyone else.
  12. I have just been told that I can no longer listen to my radio at work unless my employer buys a licence that allows this. I'm absolutely gutted. I dunno how I'll get through the day without a radio on.
  13. Two's company, three's a crowd....At least it is at Palace.
  14. Good point regarding Jimmy Armfield. He is a sober judge and doesn't get carried away and of course he is very experienced. I don't know why the powers that be in sports coverage don't wheel out a few more of these old 'legends' as pundits. People like Pat Jennings, Bobby Charlton, Stan Bowles , Don Howe.
  15. I wonder if he has ever actually played football?
  16. Mark Lawrenson...discuss
  17. Garth Crooks is demented.
  18. I disagree about Alan Green. You can get across the events on the pitch and be polite at the same time, as the great Barry Davies effortlessly did.
  19. Now I'm beginning to sound like him.
  20. A commentator should simply report the facts as they are happening. So all we should hear from his mouth are statistics, phases of play, incidents, summarys and updates. He gets right up my nose when he starts pontificating on players and managers' decisions. Moan.....moan.....moan. He sounds like a poor man's Ian Paisley.
  21. Is there a more opinionated whinger then this bloke? He shows such bias, especially against Fergie and Man Utd.I'm sure as a BBC commentator he should simply commentate and remain neutral. He sounds like a right pratt.
  22. I was egged by a group of youths the other day as well. I gave chase but they scrambled.
  23. Including the great music.
