I was just about to ask about fevers. My son hasn't had a fever at all and seems completely fine. He threw up his dinner so I gave him a rusk and a little yoghurt and then my breast and he again threw up a little again. Its very disheartening when you can't keep your little one fed.

Bring on the sunshine and healthy vibes ..!!

Sorry to ressurect this thread but my nearly 2 year old has been vomiting for nearly 72hrs now and hasn't kept anything down at all. She's been able to keep water (with rehydration powders) down in very small doses since yesterday but if given more than a quarter of a cup, she'll throw it up too. She's got as much energy as a rag doll and all she can do is watch CBeebies all day inbetween lots of sleep. No fever though.

We saw the doc late on Friday afternoon and he said that it was the vomiting bug. If it got any worse to call them again. Well it hasn't got worse but certainly hasn't improved yet.

How long does it go on for? 72hrs seems an awfully long time for a toddler to still be throwing up, especially water.

Our 20mth old had it for around 5 days. She was being sick about every 6-8 hours and would perk up after being sick and eat and then gradually get more whiney and clingey until she was sick again. She slept a lot too. But then my almost 4 yr old was over it in less than 24 hours.

Needless to say, my husband has been complaining of feeling dicky since my youngest came down with it and now over a week later, is acting like he's on his last legs, tho hasn't been sick.

Just wondering if my stomach is cast iron or is it all a matter of time!

Hello from sunny NZ!

Thought I'd update on the dreaded tummy bug...

Flight from London to Singapore a breeze, sleepy children, chilled out parents. Five hour stopover in Singapore (just in the airport) no problem, kids ran round in a play area, tired parents sat and drank coffee. Flight from Singapore to NZ (10 hours or so) children didn't really sleep, and 2 hours into it Mr Pickle came down with the bug! Needless to say I was quite stressed, dealing with two very tired children who didn't seem to agree with my "why don't you just lie down and have a nice sleep" suggestion and worrying about the fact that my husband had been missing for a couple of hours!

We finally arrived at my parent's house, Mr Pickle went straight to bed, thankfully my parents were on hand to help with the kids as I was completely exhausted.

Next day - my Mum came down with the bug! So whatever it is, it's very contagious. We're now keeping our fingers crossed that my Dad avoids it.

I hope it's gradually working it's way out of East Dulwich and that you're all OK. On the plus side, having had it myself I managed to lose half a stone, so can now indulge in a bit more kiwi food and wine ;-)

Oh no, Norovirus Pickle? Hopefully everyone recovers soonest - at least you have nice weather to convalesce in and will hopefully be virus free upon your return flight!

Just a weather update here in case you miss it - cold, dark, miserable, just starting to rain again as I type this.

Seconded - being ill on a flight is awful. Thank go*dness it was only for the last couple of hours. I had salmonella on a flight back from Switzerland when I was a child (from stroking cows on the Jungfrau and then eating a picnic) and they had to let the plane land while I was still in the toilet - eurgh.

Get well very soon - I guess it's a blessing you didn't all get it at once. Someone can play nursemaid each time.

Thanks for asking ITATM, she was finally back to normal only yesterday - she had 4 whole days without food and very little water and then another 24hrs before she could stomach her milk so all in all, 5 full days from beginning to end! It took me back to night feeds again as she was waking every few hours for sips of water. Last night we finally had a full nights sleep - bliss!

I'm wondering if it's a different virus to Pickle and family though as neither myself or my partner has got it (yet..) Get well soon guys!

I did feel for him, as I felt terrible when I had it, and I got to lie in my own bed all day. He spent the best part of 8 hours in an airplane toilet! My Mum is much better now and so far Dad has escaped it - we do feel terrible that we've bought a bug with us. On the plus side the weather is beautiful and we've been enjoying afternoons at the beach.

If anyone walks past my house please let me know the state it's in (kitchen should now be demolished, am waiting for pictures to be sent to me later in the week - feels very strange being so far away and knowing there are people working in the house!).

Hi Pickle! Glad to hear the bug seems to be on the wane. We all had it too, and I NEVER get stomach flu. Terrible.

I know that I live right around the corner from you (from borrowing the travel cot - thanks again!) and am very happy to swing by and provide some progress reports, in all seriousness. Let me know if that would help!

Alie

I need to moan about tummy bugs. My little girl (nearly 2) had a nasty one for 7 days at the start of Feb, which I caught though not badly, then the weekend before last was sick for a day, but got better quickly, and now has another (or the same?) but, 3 days now, can't keep anything down and is really lethargic. Have had her checked out by the GP and hoping she gets better soon.

Thank god the washing machine is still working!

Classic that the ED bug (or one of them) is now in NZ.

    • https://www.assistancedogs.org.uk/information-hub/assistance-dogs-emotional-support-dogs-and-therapy-dogs/   hello   i’d be interested to understand if anyone.has experience of Assistance Dogs especially for autistic children of different ages for emotional support and therapy   There was a prior thread on this topic on EDF 10 hrs ago but it had limited experiences and there was a (claimed) change in UK legislation in 2019. Whilst the industry appears unregulated/unlicensed, there are several providers (approx 15, perhaps more) who claim to have fully trained dogs or say that they can help families to train a puppy/young dog over the 18-24 months.  The latter obviously comes with a need for strong commitment to the challenge. Costs for a fully trained assistance dog are quoted at £13-15k albeit they claim £23k total cost to train the dog. On the one hand, this could potentially be a useful solution for some families if such a dog was truly trained as their websites claim and such a dog was accepted in public places and schools etc… On the other hand, I don’t think that I’ve ever seen an assistance dog of this type or in this context (only for a blind or partially sighted person) and hence a real risk of fraud or exploitation! The SEN challenge for families coupled with limited resources in schools or from local authorities or the NHS as well as the extremely challenging experience of many families with schools offering little or no support or making the situation worse leaves a big risk of lots of different types of fraud and or exploitation in this area.
    • Hi there  We live on Woodwarde Road backing on to Alleyns Top Field.  Our cat Gigi has gone missing — it’s been about 24 hours now. She is a cream Bengal. Could you please check sheds, garages, or anywhere she might have got stuck please? And if you could keep an eye out or share on any local groups/forums, we’d really appreciate it. Photo attached.   Thanks so much! My name is Jeff on 07956 910068.
    • Colin.    One for the old school.   Just saying.
    • Signed, and I will share it elsewhere, thank you for posting this. It's got nearly 70,000 signatures at present, and apparently runs till February.
