bobbsy
Am hearing a rumour that the centre is closing immediately for the foreseeable future following continued disagreement over the site.Anyone know if this is true? bobbsy
Out of interest, does anyone else on this forum utilise the amazing facilities at the centre? It's the second time I've asked a question about the sports centre, with many views but zero responses. If you haven't been there, please do, there is no comparable facility in SE London. I for one don't want it to disappear. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/100293-crystal-palace-sports-centre/#findComment-980852 Share on other sites
Help-Ma-Boab
I play squash there. Courts much better than Dulwich Hamlet. also there seems to be a reprieve:http://www.slp.co.uk/article.cfm?id=116915&headline=Sport%20centre%E2%80%99s%20two-year%20reprieve§ionIs=news&searchyear=2016 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/100293-crystal-palace-sports-centre/#findComment-980870 Share on other sites
JoeLeg
Really, really hope this isn't true - one of my kids does multiple activities up there. It's a great place! Will be asking them. bobbsy
Thanks help-me-boab, yes had seen similar so had thought it was ok:https://www.london.gov.uk/decisions/md1602-crystal-palace-national-sports-centre-contract-extensionHowever this rumour has originated last night - apparently the hockey club that trains there was told last night it would lose the facilites asap. They were unsure though if it's only the external facilities or the entire centre. spark67
I regulary use the pool, and their swim only membership helps, as I don't really use the gym, but swim a lot, which saves wasting money on a more expensive membership After using the 50 metre pool, it makes any visits to the Dulwich one seem like a mere paddle. I always nearly end up watching stuff going on in the inside courts or the athletics track when I visit. Pickle
We are regular users - swimming lessons for the kids, squash courts, the 50m pool, and in the past gymnastics. Great facility in need of some TLC. I haven't heard anything to say our swimming lessons will stop, so hopefully an unsubstantiated rumour!
