What is it about poultry? "Hen" in Scotland..."Chicken" or just "Chick" in Northern England..."Cock" in the North too...then there's "Duck" and "Ducky" (ahem) and Jack Duckworth's immortal "my little swamp duck"...

It's never the actual words is it? It's the accompanying tone or curl of the lip....or, in a forum like this, the context...

The boss tends not to employ boys. He prefers 'a decent bit of eye candy' (his words).

It costs a lot in agency fees, high turnover etc and training them can be tiresome but it 'brightens up the office and is something to look at' (also his words).

Are you quite sure about that?

They are, er, "office juniors". Whatever that is. Bottom of the heap, sounds like. Probably not a good idea for them to speak out if they don't like it, is it? Not if they value their jobs and/or don't want to be on the receiving end of a load more "good humour" that is "not meant in a derogatory way".

Edited to add: And I hope your last post was a joke :))

I trust he also keep the sex discrimination forms in the bottom drawer?

(For the avoidance of doubt that bit is a joke)

    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
    • Wholeheartedly recommend Aria. He was polite, responsive and sorted our leak, from an old tap on an old plumbing system, with no bother and on same day.
