Last year we had my sons party at the Marsden Road Wildlife Centre. I think that they only do them on a Sunday afternoon, but for about ?60 you can hire the whole building to play games in and have tea. We did a treasure hunt around the garden (that bit is open to the public) and looked at frogs and things in the pond. It's really charming and the staff are around to tell the kids all about it.

We've used St. Thomas More hall for a party, but it's a very big and vacuous space if you don't have a lot of people. Also had a party upstairs at The Mag which worked very well as you can bring your own food and the owner, Steve, is very helpful and of course, the bar is just downstairs. We had a few entertainers as well in both places.

We've been to ones at Peckham and Beckenham softplay, Gambados and they were perfectly fine, if only just a little manic because you have other children around.

What a great idea to have it at the Marsden Road Wildlife Centre - would be perfect for a summer or warmish weather birthday.

Thanks very much

Have booked the Mag. Is a March birthday and can't risk outdoors and soft play places don't serve drinks :)

Love the Marsden Rd idea, will definitely book for my other son's birthday in September

Hmm, now for an entertainer....

The birthday boy/girl can choose from one of our fantastic themed parties, create their own theme, a drama based party or a clown to do balloons and face paints.

This unique Drama Xl party will be one to remember as the children end the with a performance created by themselves.

    • I'm having a read of their website now - it's an absolute hoot* - talk about a reality gap   * by hoot I mean they should be furiously taken to court
    • It's even worse than it used to be. The only vaguely good thing about the garden is that at least you can see some real foliage from trees in the neighbouring gardens.

    • There used to be a flock of long tailed tits in the area up East Dulwich Grove past the health centre (going from ED) . No idea if they are still around there. Herons in Peckham Rye Park near the pond (and various ducks and geese) . I agree Merlin is a great app, better than other bird identification apps I have tried . You could join the RSPB? They have a good and informative quarterly magazine.  If you have a garden or a balcony, deffo put out feeders if you can. Different kinds of  feeders and food suit different birds. Vine House Farm is a great source of bird food (and feeders),  particularly if you have space to store it (guarded from mice!) in bulk. Good quality,  and speedy free delivery with no minimum order requirement. I don't have any connection with them, in case I sound like an ad! https://www.vinehousefarm.co.uk/
