Hotel @ bottom of Lordship Lane?

I notice the sign above John Alan Florists at the bottom of Lordship Lane also says "Restaurant & Hotel"

It is quite a big building at rear and wondered if anyone remembers when it was a hotel and did anyone stay there?

My Mother has stayed there and gave great reports of the rooms above the Florists. Apparently each room has a floral theme. Mum stayed in the "Rose Room" - which was apparently "very nice" - although she did feel a bit peeky during her stay in the Rose Room.

The restaurant is actually a room at the back of the florists - again rather flowery in nature.

Has anybody else anything to report?

On the subject of signs, If you look over the road from the Bishop you'll notice that an old sign has been uncovered where the White Stuff works are going on - "Lordship Lane Jewellers" I think (although I'm remembering through a few beers). Lordship Lane Information Centre also seems to have been uncovered recently. Anyone remember these in their original state, and any other old signs reappearing?

At the top end of LL, in the Upper East Side, the place that is now being revamped used to be the Coop and I believe a sign was uncovered, or am I making it up? Nero

Apparently the top floor has a single room at the rear - it's the Quiet Room

The sign is only John Alan advertising that he supplies flowers to restaurants and hotels.

Up to the First World War 4 Lordship Lane was J.S.Marsh (ham and beef stores).

T'was entirely a misread of the sign that caused my original confusion some weeks back - I thought it a pleasant folly to prolong the misinterpretation (not a real word surely)
