I had a nasty experience at the local Mind charity shop yesterday afternoon and I would like to take it further. The manager (with many facial piercings, he didn't give his name) peeked where the curtain didn't quite close despite my best efforts, noticed I was feeding my baby for 2-3 minutes before trying on some clothes, complained about it loudly in the shop & then sprayed air freshener telling everyone that my breastmilk stinks (!!!). The area manager Lindsay happened to be in the back, but when I tried to complain to him he also told me I was not allowed to breastfeed in the changing room and that it was appropriate for managers to look in the changing rooms even though they were closed. He did take my email address to follow up on Monday, but frankly I was shocked and insulted and am not willing to wait that long.

Any ideas where else I should follow this up? I already emailed their head office yesterday afternoon with no reply.

I have experienced rudeness from a v. similar sounding chap in this same shop, who wouldn't accept a baby bath as a donation due to 'health and safety'. I don't want to start a whole new thread on the rights and wrongs of 2nd hand baby baths - my point is there are polite ways to turn down unwanted donations and downright bloody minded rudeness - I experienced the latter. I got the impression they were spoiled with donations in there and have since boycotted the shop.

In response to the other link I have breastfeed in M&S and Next changing rooms and never had anyone come snooping on me - that is outrageous. If he wanted to check up on you he should have looked the other way and used his voice to check you were ok.

I can understand you are furious but do give the head office a little longer to respond, although they should at least acknowledge your message within a couple of working days.

Hope you are more chilled out now :)

Mrs TP (I am raging on your behalf)

This is the email I was sent Sat evening at 10pm:

Thank you for your email. I am extremely concerned by your experiences in the East Dulwich shop and would like to offer my apologies for any offence you have been caused.

The Managing Director of our shops network is managed by Bob Monteath, and I have asked him to investigate your experience as soon as possible, and copied him into this email. He will be in touch in due course.

Best wishes

Paul Farmer

    • @Sue think this is your quote.  It wasn't binary, good Vs bad, and Corbyn had a lot of popular support, as evidenced by the previous election. He had aot of good policies, some picked up by others since. He was defeated by a mixture of a right wing press, good targeting  but the Tories, 'Get Brexit Done" and for some that Johnson was a funny loveable rogue/fool/liar/philander/opportunist.  I wouldn't see perceived least worst candidate out of the two major parties as being "good sense'.  We imagine that Corbyn would have been terrible, but we don't know.  He would have taken a stronger line against Israel in Gaza, not sucked up to Trump nut on Russia?
    • We have had 4 greyhounds - the last one, a bitch, was not speyed so we  had to pay for that at our local vet.  Only one dog was nervous around children and only one was cat friendly.
    • Apologies on the tardy reply, but thank you everyone for your responses and suggestions! Unfortunately I couldn't attend the recent EDF drinks because of work (I know right). But will absolutely keep eyes peeled for the next one and try and come down!
    • Because of the weather which delayed completion with roofer only being able to work certain days, it was up from November - end of January. Went slightly higher than gutters (we also had guttering replaced).
