After spending the morning morning admiring my giant house (alone) for an hour, I could sit in the garden, bored shitless for an hour or two, maybe try and get the ride-on mower going.

Then, after a trip to town to admire the hanging baskets and listening to general post-office blue-rinse chatter about immigrants ruining the country, I can return home and spend the day emailing friends in London, pleading with them to come and visit.

Yes.. Nearest station is Headcorn 9miles away then 1hr 4 mins to London.

I've met a lot of ex pat Londoners down in Kent. They cash in and flee the smoke for the rural idyll and within months have shagged the neighbour and become divorced alcoholics.

How come properties in Peckham are more expensive than East, West and North Dulwich and Forest Hill??

dbboy - ED has very few large properties, so you're not comparing like for like.

As for Forest Hill... it's a decent area, but is a couple of miles further out, has a major road cutting through it, and doesn't have the same buzz that Peckham has at the moment.

Dboy, they are bigger, some huge early Victorian houses round Highshore Road, Chadwick Road, Lyndhurst, some detached, with huge gardens minutes from a station that directly serves the East London Line. Some very individual houses, including the large early cottages around Elm Grove.
