Emily
Yup, she is GOOD at this. Mind you, she's had years of practise! She's probably loaded, frankly. And yes, she does look the part. Sober, smiley, apparently embarrassed... Of course you think you might be being scammed, you also think, 'what if she's in trouble...' and that little bit of doubt and human kindness is exactly what she exploits. markyb3
She was in Nutbrook Street a couple of weeks ago. I asked her for proof of where she lived. She told me she would go and get some proof and i never saw her again. Would help> folk to know what she looks like and if someone spots her the police might be able to scoop her.It depends what your aim is.Taking a photograph will be good evidence of that person's having been on your doorstep, and might also be useful to the police in making an identification. But if it's a prosecution that's wanted, it could well be that the evidence of more than one victim is needed. If that were the case, publishing a photograph here would probably scupper the value of any other person's subsequent assertion that they'd been done by the same perpetrator. It is not even certain that there is just one.It would also be the case that any photograph published here would most probably amount to a serious defamation. Defending any libel action can be very expensive and stressful, and not necessarily successful. And then there's the possibility of actual harm done to the person by the publication. You might want to argue that, however it pans out, it's all they deserve. You might still find it regrettable if it turned out that you'd made a mistake about their honesty. Huggers
if this is the same woman who used to pretend to get locked of of her house(''round the corner'') and needing to pay a locksmith before he could access her house, she hit nutbrook street two years ago and was prosecuted for fraud as a result. Seems she's back with a different tale. What a cheek. Tell the police neighbourhood team she's back- they know where she lives. thexwinglessxbird
^ This is good to know.If people spoke up a little more/took their ranting further than the East Dulwich forum, than this wouldn't be going on (for much longer). I can't believe how many people have just let her get away with it. woofmarkthedog
Sadly...There are two things which drive a woman like this to "perform" in such a disinhibited way1. CRACK COCAINE2. woofmarkthedog
Is...Is this the same woman asking for money for her child's sponsorship form? Identity sounds the same. She's not aggressive however she is quite persistent in her conviction. Sometimes she has children with her.... The school sponsorship form was for a local primary so I gave them a call and they were aware of her activities but said she wasn't a parent and they didn't know who she was. (Mrs W**F gave her the "cold jug" as it were at the door so she never came back here funnily enough)A neighbor also got an early morning knock at the door (6.30am) asking for ?50, she was crying, saying she couldn't heat the house because her electricity meter had run out and her baby was hungry and cold. Another sucked in punter sadly....?W**F *dons deerstalker * Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10453-woman-asking-for-money-door-to-door/page/3/#findComment-320497 Share on other sites
littleianstar
I've got to say i was convinced when she knocked at my door. Unfortunatley for her, having recently been made redundant I didn't have a penny in the house. Though i've got too say I felt very guilty turning her away until i found this thread! Perhaps she could be locked up and the key thrown away? Perhaps hanging's too good for her? Would you say it's indicative of the broken society we live in? se5Local
This lady knocked on my door today, 24 June 2010. Mcdowall rd se5.She is black, tall, slim and smart. She was very embarassed to be disturbing you, almost crying and in need of money for the electric meter. She said her name was Lisa and she lived a few doors down across the rd. She was totally believable and asked for ?22. Lots of eye contact and apologetic.A great performance, a pro con artist. She will get caught one day.
