  1. Evidence is that masks are effective - pretty much three-fold - for stopping asymptomatic carriers of the virus spreading it, aerosol spreading can reach more than 2 metres - so masks can protect, and finally, they are symbol we are in a pandemic and it changes peoples behaviour - stop touching your face, be sensible etc. Hong Kong has 4 deaths. The govt there said no need to wear masks, but people wore them anyway - it's socially unacceptable to be out without a mask. Govt also introduced testing, mandatory hospital and quarantine for those with covid-19. A final point - if the govt said lockdown is over, but you have to wear a mask, would you wear masks or still save them for front line staff? The UK govt and epidemiologists got this wrong - strategy has failed completely. So to conclude, buy masks, wear them - they work and are effective.
  2. Not sad to see it go. Far too expensive. Last time I went in the chef's had their names printed on the menu like it was a Michelin star restaurant. Food was OK,but cost me than central London for average stuff. Much rather go to SE15 for food now.
  3. I actually have a website and take card payments in person - it's much cheaper to accept a card payment and pay the small charge (1.5-2.25%) than trying to pay cash in the bank. Less staff fraud, less chance of getting robbed and less chance of getting your books wrong - it makes no sense whatsoever to not want to accept all card payments - unless you are trying to dodge paying taxes
  4. Billy is a great heating engineer and plumber. Really impressed with the boiler fitting and service. He kept me informed and sent photos of progress throughout the day and easy to pay via BACS too. Billy's number - 07986 296453 Happy to provide further feedback if needed.
  5. i'm ditching virgin media and moving to EE. The service is good when it works, but far too unreliable. EE will probably be the same though - but ?33 a month cheaper. Like all companies, they haven't invested in infrastructure for ages, so it always fails somewhere.
  6. Jose - Bermondsey Street (Tapas) (No reservations) Zucca - Bermondsey Street (Italian) Roast - Borough Market (British) Brindisa - Borough Market (Tapas) (No reservations)
  7. @ Charles Notice - I looked too. There is no way you could have a public path that close to a live railway line. 1. Safety - its an electrified mainline used 24 hours a day. 2. Environment - it would be horrendously noisy with screeching trains all the time. 3. Network rail will own the land. Who will pay for it to make this happen? As I said previously, the high line in Manhattan was a completely separate railway line for the meatpacking district - so feasibly could be turned into a park. This clearly couldn't be. It is a brilliant idea though and clever people are working on it, it might just happen
  8. A slight issue with this plan is that the line is basically next to live train lines. Tue high line in New York in the meat packing district was a disused high line railway, completely separate from other rails. From what I can see from Googlemaps this is not a separate line at all. There is a similar early plan for the disused railway next to Shoreditch High Street- I think that one has more likelihood of success. I
  9. driving is great. i find its best saturday morning very early - stick to the M11 then on to A1 - normally takes around 4 hours 45 mins.
  10. Hi, Does anyone know anywhere that sells fresh broad beans locally?
  11. i've paid a couple of times for people when they didn't have the money on their oyster card and no cash. I'm sure if a child got on a bus, someone would help. i suppose you're all off to smash up the looms now?
