Sport Relief - Smithy

before going out last night, I watched bits of Sports Relief and the sketch of 'Smithy' accepting his 'coach of the year award'

Got to say, the bit at the end when he tells the athletes it isn't about book deals, agents and stuff has to be classed as 'Never a truer word said in jest' if I ever heard it...

I imagine the targets are in on the joke.

I found the whole thing to be slightly cringe inducing. Some of the gags were amusing but went on far too long.

I thought the actual "coaching" scetches were really not funny. The speech bit did have some funny moments though.

I used to really like Gavin & Stacey when it started out, but Smithy just annoyed me more and more, and whenever I see James Cordon on anything, he just bugs me for some reason. I think he tries far too hard.

I tend to agree Keef. He's just a bit OTT and laddish but Gav & Stace grew on me over time. The sight of him and Becks together in bed looked wrong in so many ways, which made it very funny, albeit slightly disturbing....!
