*pops up over horizon a la Lawrence of Arabia*

*gradually comes into focus and appears to be dragging a huge sack through the sand*

*opens sack to pull out huge parasol (how did it fit in there?), hammock, cooler box and sunglasses*

*settles down with large icy drink*

What need of inventions when I can see the azure sea sparkling at my feet and flirting with the white sand? Apart from the above-mentioned items, of course...

Why thank you karter. You're a gent. Perhaps Moos has something in her cooler box she'd be willing to share. Failing that I'll get the G&B chopper to fly over and do a mercy drop of organic champagne.

Everyone needs to be a skivvy and muck in on this island, in order to survive. Please tell Brum not to light that beacon though, we don't have any reliable fire fighters, as yet.

You tell him. I'm lazing about in Moos's deckchair.

    • That explanation sounds highly unlikely!  Surely the "days of the week" plates must be a standard size. I know Royal Mail often appears incompetent, but it  couldn't be that stupid, surely. Was it 1 April?!
    • Looking for a short length of electric (twin & earth)  lighting cable. Most likely there could be some in a skip near you??
    • Southwark's recycling guidance says to put shredded paper in the blue bin in a paper envelope or "small box". I've got far too much of it for that  (confidential stuff going back decades) - thanks to the EDF member who kindly gave me a shredder! It would be a "massive box". I have barely started  the shredding, and I've already got an extremely large bagful.   I've read online that you can put it into  large clear plastic bags in the bin for paper,  provided you  clearly label it "shredded paper" and it is obvious what it is. Does anybody know if Southwark would accept it like that? Alternatively, can anyone make use of it for animal bedding or packaging material or adding to  compost?
    • I'm happy to report that some foxgloves are now looking great in my garden. The bees are loving them. Also managed to grow some corn poppies from seed. I've left some decaying logs in the corner so maybe there are some stag beetles there.
