Hi Sean -

What I'm in general 'for' in this instance is that if I'm to vote it counts for something positive - as oppose to just a tactic to promote or prevent the least worst option within a system / status-quo that's floored and maintains it's existence as a paradox of a voting system that allow effective ongoing control by a minority - as in 'first past the post'.

And you Sean, - what is you are 'for'?

A very good point Marmora Man - but I'm not sure about the examples. I suspect they all had majority backing, but the majority was denied access to the levers of power

True - but somehow they persuaded the powers to overturn that denial of access - which I would say is a successful minority becoming a majority.

I'm not so sure what m7post is FOR - I have a fair idea of what he is against but I'm not seeing much in the way of "persuasion, good arguments, marketing, strong feeling"

Agree

I'm not as despairing of the structures that are in place as you are m7 - so you could say I am FOR them

I would change some things - remove first past the post, continue to press for less deference to banking systems (which is not the same as me saying said systems are "evil") but then again I'm not the one who has started posting with some vehemence about the need for change. So the onus is not on ME to say what I'm for, I would say that was on you

Hi shaun - i thought is was a discussion forum -

you did enquire what is what i was 'for'

no one has said there's any onus on you for anything - but one would assume that if you're asking what some one is for - that you'd prepared to answer the / state the same, I asked because I was interested to know . . .

- it seams I've stumbled to a bit of a private club - chatting in public - and appear not to be too welcome - so i'll leave you chaps to it

best

Martin

Surely this is positive in a negative way... No?

Well from what I can guage at the moment, they are the only party with a clear agenda to properly regulate the parts of the economy which are dangerously out of control and to withdraw the invasive ?social regulation? that is imposed on normal people.

In the long run I feel they are the only ideological opposition to an ideologically vacuous status quo in politics.

Of the parties which aren?t (I suppose yet being a caveat) owned by their backers they actually posses the skills to run a government.

As an aside isn?t Tony Blaire piping up and calling David Cameron vacuous one of the finest examples of the pot calling the kettle black we?ve seen in a long time?

    • If you have what I and several people I know have / have had, it can make you feel quite blue. It’s common to feel depressed when you’re unwell. This thing takes a good couple of weeks at least before you feel back to normal, so go easy on yourself x
    • “never complained” lol yes you are referring to illness specifically but judging by your posts?  Can imagine the headline   NOT ONE OF LIFES COMPLAINERS sure and in case anyone complains I’m “picking” on someone - her post directly attacks someone as “a pathetic wimp” Also worth noting that LL has posted several times on the forum about health issues - looking for advice or support. Which is a good thing that people should do  So I’m glad no one called  her a “pathetic wimp” then
    • Fair enough. Perhaps I’m wrong  but the country can either have rising house prices or affordable housing. Which means falling house prices right? or is there a scenario where all of the existing housing stock rises in value while the hundreds of thousands of new, affordable  homes are somehow immune to the same market forces? How do we build enough affordable houses for our children yet insist on our own houses going up in value? Both can’t be true. Enough new housing stock has to lower existing housing prices  if  not , where am I wrong?
    • I don't really see the linkage between the two factors tbh
