Hi

Been out of whack for 2 days with the dreaded Norovirus.

It's a pig of a virus, but helps prove the statistic that humans are 90% water.

I am now down to about 35%.

So, who else has had it? Is it particularly prevalent in East Dulwich / Peckham at the moment?

Apparently there is a lot of it going around but everyone always says that!

No idea where I got it from - but it is easy to catch even by just touching an infected surface.

Fortunately MrPR has guts of steel and he's been able to look after me.

Aghhhh - quick off to the toi...

Oh dear, poor you *hugs*

My immune system seems to be permanently upregulated as I've never caught this bug, nor do I get colds or flu, despite the fact Mr Minkey gets everything going..

Drink plenty of fluids with rehydration salts if possible, and I hope it passes soon.

Yes, it's all the rage in the Family Room. my little boy had it, then my husband, then both grannies after two separate stays, and lastly me. Luckily was over it (and half a stone lighter for two blissful days) in time to be bridesmaid for my best mate but god it was horrendous, I was pretty much throwing up every hour for 12 hours. Judging by our experience it's highly infectious.
It visited our household about 6 weeks ago, then we kindly passed it on to my family in NZ when we went there on holiday. Oops :-$ The kids and I got it about 5 days before we left (it's a brilliant quick fix diet), Mr Pickle came down with it on a long haul flight. Not nice.

Is that you saying I'm fat? Like I NEED to lose weight?

Clearly we've not met.

it's the staying in/off work for 2 days after symptoms have stopped that's the problem - don't think many people do (have lots of kids coming in who've vomited at night and then said they wanted to go to school the next morning so parents have sent them - only to be having even more D&V by lunchtime!).

Those 2 days are important to check it's properly out of your system and to ensure you're no longer infectious.

I am finally over it. Had it last Wednesday night and although stopped doing the exploding thing by Saturday, it has taken this long to get better although MrPR then got it and reinfected me a bit Saturday.

PLEASE please please if you get it DO NOT GO OUT FOR TWODAY DAYS AFTER YOUR LAST 'EXPLOSION' - IE TWO DAYS AFTER YOU START TO FEEL BETTER.

Because THAT's when you're still infectious. Thank you. Just as well I am not religious because I missed Easter this year!

    • So irrespective of the scandal how do you think that Rayner did as Housing Secretary?
    • The Labour astro-turfers are out in force on this thread aren't they!
    • I don't really care about political sleaze in this  i am more concerned about thjle ability to run.a country without running it into the ground. Currently, labout seem to be heading straight towards the rocks, ignoring the warning blasts from the economic ighthouse.
    • Which is exactly why Rayner had to go - don't be the sleaze attack dog and then not keep your own house in order - the really shocking fact is she didn't go the moment this came to light because she knew what advice, and the advice to seek proper tax expertise that was given to her in writing by the very people she was trying to throw under the bus - she clearly thought she might be able to spin her way out of it. When you look at the facts, the advice she was given and when and her behaviour in the last few days it has been scandalous and just shows the contempt for the public intelligence some politicians have. Interesting to see a very unscientific vox pop on BBC News last night but a lot of her own constituents seem to want rid of her as well and to be honest if you have to lose your cabinet role for this breach of the rules then you should probably lose your seat too. That is the hypocrisy here and why a lot of people don't like politicians because they're all the same.
