I got a Phil and Teds Metro (old version) second hand on this forum and have found it really good.

Granted we haven't done a whole load of hill walking (yet!) but 1 year old daughter always laughs a lot when she gets put in it (sometimes points to it and seems to say 'I want to go in there') and we have used it for trips to shops etc. Both my husband and I find it comfortable to wear. Quite expensive to buy new though I think. I've just lent it to some friends who've gone walking in the lakes with their baby of the same age so will be interested to see how they get on with it.

We've just started using a Little Life rucksack-style carrier with our 10-month-old. She seems to really enjoy it; also liked being in a papoose. I haven't worn it, but hubbie says it's incredibly comfy and much lighter than it looks. Not sure how expensive though - we were given it. You don't say how old your baby is? Needs to be good at sitting up. Would highly recommend this though!

We have a Vaude. It's very good, has a rain and sun cover that fits on, and a stand that flips out. I've carried our daughter in it on long walks in Derbyshire until she got to about 2.5 - when the final walk (5 hours mind you) almost had me on my knees by the end!

With our 18 month old, I don't even notice she is in it, and she's gone in it happily from about 9 months old I think (hard to remember exactly, and we only use it for 'proper' walks IYKWIM).

Edited to say....

Actually, just found the photo (attached) and she was exactly 3 years old on the final walk...you can see the carrier quite well in it....

    • I know,  absolutely crazy.  A dog has never died because it didn't have a walk, but dogs do die if walked in this heat. Perhaps the owners should put on a thick fur coat, take their shoes off and jog round the pavements, and see how that feels! 🤬
    • I bought myself a litter picker from Amazon and do go round and pick up . No one else does. I guess they just don't have the time what with job obligations and kids etc. Question. ...should we pay more council tax in return for a better service? This debate could go on forever.
    • Walking around ED at lunchtime shocked at the amount of owners walking their dogs. Do they not realise  they are risking their dogs life by doing this?
    • I do know that the bin men are tasked to empty the relevant bin to their round and to move on, so street collection bags won't be covered by them. They are given quite demanding routes daily which they have to cover. Street sweeper bag collections I think are done by those lorries with cages.
