East London Line news

The East London Line Overground is open from today, midday-ish. Boris and Co have formally opened it a short time ago. Hopefully, in two years' time, the extension will be coming to Peckham Rye and Denmark Hill.

went on the London overground train from New Cross today. I was impressed with the train layout. Large carriages with plenty of standing room and still a good number of seating. Nice smooth and fast journey. Looking forward to 23rd may when it comes down to forest hill and ?2011 peckham rye. apparently the carriages are air conditioned which is a bonus. also the carriages are open and linked so you can walk from one end to the other which should avoid overcrowding in one carriage.

I recently used the service, departing Honor Oak Park to New cross Gate, change onto the ELL to Shoreditch High Street in less than 20 mins, and just a few minutes walk from Liverpool Street. Can't praise the service enough, even better it was ?4 return off peak using Oyster.

dbboy - that sounds great, and makes me want there to be that much talked-about extension of the 63 bus route to HOP station.

Went on the ELL from Forest Hill today as they were giving free travelcards along the route. Very impressed.
