citizenED
For the first time in ages me and MrsC went out together last night, to a proper house party, and I snaffled a few too many glasses of wine and ended up with a minor hangover. Trouble is, although we did everything right, ie got a babysitter and arranged for a taxi, we obviously forgot to tell the little ones we would be up late. The cherubs proceeded to wake, unreasonably, at 6.15 before rampaging into our room and jumping all over us. It was, for my sins, my turn, so I have spent most of the day squiffy in charge of children. Belle
oh dear I sympathise - it was my turn the morning after the family forum drinks a few weeks ago and ouch. At least I only had the one to run after. i say run after...mainly i lay weakly on the sofa and tried to stop him doing anything too dangerous. The Nappy Lady
The thought of coping with kids the 'day after' is the best antidote to the temptation of alcohol I have yet to come across!Molly Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11125-drunk/#findComment-320450 Share on other sites
ryedalema
I'm doing it this morning! I went to Black Cherry and Liquorish last night with my brother and had v. yummy and much to moreish cocktails.Darling eldest daughter was up at 5.20am and prodded youngest daughter awake - such a cherub!Luckily their uncle was still here so we took them to two (TWO) parks this morning and he ran around with eldest while I 'supervised' from the bench.30 mins until our babysitter comes to take her swimming....29....28! Pickle
You've been to two parks before 8:30am?! That's hardcore!! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11125-drunk/#findComment-320456 Share on other sites
The Nappy Lady
I am seriously impressed, but maybe being out in fresh air with small children is less painful with bad head than being cooped up in the house with CBeebies or similar teee hee...... Peckhamgatecrasher
My daughter missed her primary school visit to The Monument due to illness. I faithfully promised to take her the next Saturday to make up for it. Unfortunately this coincided with my worst hangover ever - I cursed every one of the 311 steps to the top. misticnutmeg
Belle, I suppose you call yourself a responsible parent??......laying drunk on a sofa - very good parenting (not) I must say! ryedalema
Ouch mysticnutmeg - we can't be perfect Martha Stewart/Mary Poppins/Nigella Lawson figures all the time. Sometimes we need to have adult company (and recreational tipples) to keep our sanity and have some of our own fun. So sometimes (and actually it is pretty rarely 'cos as Nappy Lady cites 'children are the best think twice's on G*d's great earth')we revert to the 'keep them safe, fed, warm and clean' mentality. At least for a morning while we pull ourselves together. My apologies if I fell foul of an inside joke and your message was tongue in cheek. Belle
I think this is probably thanks to me disagreeing with you on the primary school places thread misticnutmeg, since you seem to have singled me out. if you read my post i was hungover rather than drunk and quite happy to admit it. I'd be very surprised to see any mums or dads come on here claiming to be perfect. I think it's quite helpful if parents admit their fallibility in fact... reneet
Lucky for me its always my turn in the week so never my turn in the weekend, not that I ever go anywhere but the rare occasions that I do I get to sleep until a cross lady walks in 'seriously mummy, you are not still sleeping', that's usually about 11am and extremely embarrassed to be told off by an 2.5 year old, I usually slowly wake up, apologise and slowly walk to the bathroom with my head down.
