Anti-Brexit March - now on 2nd July (9th July rally has since disappeared from internet)

Recommended Posts

I've already sent over 400 invites on Facebook...and I'm mentioning it here too. However, I'm unable to post the link on here - so if anyone, who wants to, can, I'd be grateful. Thanks.

If you aren't interested in this - fair enough, but should you want to engage with me in that regard please note that I shall not be participating. I just want to alert those who may be interested in this mass demonstration.

I hope you are OK with this - Admin.

Thanks, but this isn't the link. I cannot now find it anywhere and it has also disappeared from my Facebook page. Also there is no sign of it on my "activity log". What the fekk!? I'm wondering whether the invites have been intercepted too. I'm not happy about this at all.

Could FB have taken it down? Has anyone else experienced anything like this? (6)

You are right, Loz. Any clues as to why that might be? Last time I looked over 10,000 people had said they would attend. :-S

Me too. Not because I think the this decision will be reversed now but because I think when someone feels very strongly about something, that feeling needs to be expressed publicly so all our politicians and the world understands the depth of feeling.

Yep, and this one will probably do about as much good.

But then again, I went to that one and will be going to this one.

heading Laddy Muck so the date is right?

The protest rally on the 2nd is not the same as the march which was to take place on the 9th (details of the latter have since disappeared). Yes, I can see how the title, as it stands, may cause confusion and/or frustration...so will amend. Thanks Sue.

Here is a link to the march to parliament on Sat July 2nd which starts in Park Lane from 11am - https://www.facebook.com/events/244646665920554/

I can't find much out about this one in the news or on the met website so am not sure how organised/ big it will be but worth going to find out!!If anyone knows more about it please let me know. There seem to be and have been several different ones recently while I was away - we need one mass protest drawing people from all over the country, like the anti poll tax and anti war in Iraq ones.

We were there too. Was a good afternoon once the weather cheered up.

Toffee, leavers seems to think they also voted against the right for people to campaign and march for things they believe in. The 48%, or some of them, have every right to make sure government doesn't forget about their views too, especially as there is lots to play for through EU negotiations.

    • I'd get rid of duty free shopping.  Nothing to do with tourist tax but something I hate.  All that glitz as you try to get through to Wetherspoons in the departure lounge.  No great savings over on line or even at times supermarkets, and the hypocrisy of selling cheap cancer sticks. Ok back to tourist tax
    • If anyone is thinking of traveling a bit more and would like to supplement their trip by picking up a few family heirlooms from various ailing maiden aunts of mine, please drop me a private message. I'm particularly interested in anyone who is considering Colombia & Bolivia, The Golden Triangle region of South East Asia, Andalusia & North Africa or Rotterdam. And Liverpool.
    • Wow I had no idea they give you 5% in perfume for your accommodation. You're right, I need to travel more.
    • Do none of you go abroad.  Tourist taxes are really common in continental Europe and do vary a lot city by city. They are collected by the hotels/rental apartments. They are usually a  tiny part of your holiday costs.  In Narbonne recently we paid €1.30 per person per night.  The next town we went to charge 80 cents per person per night. By comparison Cologne is 5% of your accomodation.
