Pub with child play area in East Dulwich area?

I am looking for a pub / eaterie in East Dulwich area with a play area / outside area for toddler.

Not places like the Victoria where the play area is separate as he is too young to be on his own and we don't want to split the group.

We really like the Cherry Tree and they are great with him but the outside area is concrete.

We like the Rye with it's big garden but we have been there alot.

I hear the Fox on the Hill has a good area... anyone been there with a toddler?

This is specifically for a Sunday lunch this weekend and an afternoon with friends for a birthday in a couple of weeks.

The Herne has a nice big garden and is quite kid friendly (despite what some people on here have said), but they don't have a "play area" as such - they got rid of it a while back. Similar with Fox On The Hill, plenty of outdoor space but no specific play area, as far as I know. And being a Wetherspoons, you get decent/cheap beer but pretty grim food.

The Florence in Herne Hill has a playroom, and is much better than the one at the Victoria Inn (the playroom at the Victoria is just... horrid.. really feel sorry for any kids left in there).

Amanda.

you could book the upstairs of the palmerston if a reasonable group of you with other toddlers/kids.

food is great, and you have a rooftop terrace and plenty space in dining area for young ones to play and keep an eye on them. We used it tail end of last summer and worked well. service was good too, they didn't forget about you up there...

The Victoria Inn now has a licence application on display to change the kids playroom into a function room. It was nice for a few months when it opened but agree with Jeremy that it's been a dirty mess of broken bits of plastic for some time. The whole pub has massively gone downhill since Greene King took over - dirty windows which haven't been cleaned for months; badly painted outside tables; peeling paint and graffiti outside; ripped seats and rubbish service inside. Shame really as it's such a great location - but it's really a pretty rubbish pub now.

    • Some foxes are very tame. The foxes that live near the electricity sub-station thing on the corner of Calton and Woodwarde will happily walk up to you/passed you. They are some of the best looking foxes around so clearly being well-fed - glorious coats and bushy tails but interested in humans and keen to engage/be fed rather than being scared.
