I don't think any of us are having a go at people on the forum, please don't take it that way - I started the th read because I was genuinely surprised at what Boots were doing and guess I assumed if people found that not v interesting (I did say it's quite a minor issue :)) they'd not bother reading. It's true people can be defensive about formula but speaking for myself that's definitely not a reaction to people on the forum - but to the world at large. I wish I was imagining the negativity but it was definitely something i faced.

I've found all the posts on this thread v helpful and informative - it's made me understand this wasn't a corporate issue but a WHO thing, for example. I did say from the start I didn't want to start a pro/anti debate and I'm glad that's not what happened.

Prm,

I think it all depends. I don't know any women, for example, who tried to bf. Some thought it disgusting - I am NOT saying I think this but some of my friends were repelled by it - others had high powered jobs that cannot accommodate it, regardless of the legal position, and others had heard horror stories of mastitis etc.

So, just to show, there are very different views on it. The beauty of a forum like this with sensible reasonable people posting is that we can agree everyone's view has validity and leave it at that.

Especially on such a sunny day...hurrah!

newmother - Well said!

Its would be brilliant if everyone at least tried breastfeeding, even the first few days, the colostrum can be very beneficial. But the ways of the world, a lot of people cant even bare to try it. Reason's like sexually abuse really effect breastfeeding rates. its a sad world out there, but not one to judge upon. I breastfeed (still doing so at 16 months), i'm also a trained peer counsellor, but I know not to let anything cloud my judgment. Bottle feeding doesn't make someone a bad mother (not saying anyone has said this), there are many reason's why some women cant bring themselves to do it. But you must respect each and every mothers personal choice. I'm in the community to help people who want to breastfeed but are finding it hard for a number of reasons, not to force breastfeeding on people who decide to bottle feed.

I hope I haven't offended anyone here... I'm a caring person after all :-)

you don't get nectar points for ciggies either... what bed fellows fags and formula! in a totally tongue and cheek way that says millions for me about why some people might feel that formula feeding is frowned upon and certainly not the system party line.

new mother regardless of the govt conspiracy credibility i do find your point incredibly interesting. woman know your place ;)

Can't read the links at the mo but guessing one of those is to that French philosopher? I do find her views exteme in some cases (think she reckoned was ok to smoke in pregnancy?!) but interesting and refreshingly different view points at least! And I do agree a bit about the way we become slaves to our kids.

    • interesting the police said "the car was in demand at the moment" what make/model is that?
    • Just be careful to know exactly what they cover and the limits. i use Many Pets and Medivet, as I think one of the vets is exceptionally good. Some of the NHV are, but I’ve had a couple I’ve not liked at all.  I need consistency and to feel that they actually care more about the animals than the money.
    • I haven't used them myself but I noticed recently that "Snoots" in Forest Hill is going unlimited primary care for £33/month, so basically a subscription. Easy access on the 176 from East Dulwich. I have no idea what it includes so read the contract! It's a chain but only 5 branches so not a mega corporate. 🤷‍♂️ https://www.snootsvet.com/find-us
