The need to escape a little is probably greater this year, and it's not been the greatest of summers, but I'm fingers crossed for Wilderness this year. Last year was a joy.

We went last year and enjoyed it, and I'm hoping for more fun this year

Also Meatopia at Tobacco dock this September is now over 3 days - That's a lot of meat!

Mind you, after the last event I went veggie for 3 months

Any EDF'rs attending these or other festivals this year

I have a friend that goes to Wilderness. I've looked at it a couple of times but it seems just a little too unbearably Hunter welly, face painty, gourmet picnicy and camping chairsy for my tastes.

Saying that, I'm going to Citadel on Sunday in Victoria Park and that seems like Wilderness in microcosm but with better music (however; Wilderness have Flaming Lips playing this year!!).

I'm not doing any multi-day festivals this year. I usually go to Primavera Sound in Barcelona but couldn't make this years. I really want to go to End of the Road in September.

Instead it's all one day festivals in London. Was supposed to go to the Sunday of Field Day, but was sick. Went to Sunfall in Brockwell Park last Sunday which apart from Kamasi Washington, who was mind-blowingly good, was average. Have Citadel on Sunday and the Sunday of Caught By The River Thames at Fulham Palace in August (mainly for Sun Ra Arkestra and Super Furry Animals).

Nope but you are fooling yourself if you think that people don't trawl social media and discussion forums trying to piece together as much information about people, where they live, what they do and when they are out fir a weekend

Best not to post too much information about yourself is my opinion but if you want to then that's your choice I guess

If I lived in a small town, or was particularly well known, or had a thousand Facebook friends who aren't actually my friends, or didn't know how to use the privacy settings properly, or had my address anywhere on the web, I might be concerned.

However I don't, I'm not, I don't, I do and I don't.. so I think it'll be fine.

7 out of the 12 posts are off on a tangent. What are you lot like?!

I've mourned the loss of the Big Chill but fancy this (for next year - but others may wish to try it this)

Sane venue and under a ton,

I'm always horrified by the cost of most festivals, of course when I first went to to Glastonbury there was change out of a score, that is if you even paid. But with so much on the massive hike in price is no doubt justifice. Don't think so on the other biggies. And the above sounds far less twee than Lattitude (he says with his/her fingers down his/her throat)

http://www.foyles.co.uk/storybox - A Book festival this summer for children & Young Adults at Foyles called Storybox - lots of fun interactive author events and workshops happening over the next few weeks!

*Shameless plug alert* I'm also running a radio drama workshop as part of this festival at the Charing Cross Road branch of Foyles challenging children to script and broadcast their own live radio play with DIY sound effects against the clock!

    • I can't recommend Leon too highly.  He provides a first-rate service.  He's friendly but also professional.  He sorted out my extractor fan which  was running incessantly because another electrician had bodged it. At the same time he saved me buying a new shaver unit which had stopped working when the extractor wouldn't stop running. He was also uncomplaining about having to to go up and down 3 flights of stairs between the bathroom and the electrical power unit. He will definitely be my first port of call for any future electrical issues.  His contact number is: 07707 925039.
    • Leave it white .the buyer will already have a vision of what they want.
    • of course most people would avoid the "stupid" term - but I'm sticking with it fact is no other European would be so dumb, and even with the same information, the  same media, the same everything, 2 of the countries within the UK saw ho stupid an idea it was - but only the English (who played a large part in the Welsh result) pushed ahead - there is something defiantly arrogant and stupid and it isn't just down to bad info and bad leadership But that was all 2016 - it's people in 2025 who claim it to be a good idea executed badly who are especially stupid Now - does calling people stupid help anyone? It's not especially politically gainful and just gets peoples' backs up - but it remains a truth and only when the country as a whole genuinely holds it's hands up and admits the stupidity (rather than downplaying it as a poor decision - no shade meant Mal - you are just nicer and politer than me) will it begin. to turn the tide Also worth mentioning that yes I am as intractable and blunt with friends and family who voted Leave as well - this isn't me hiding behind some online anonymous account. This is what I'm like
    • Hello My name is Lizzie and I work locally as a dog walker and nanny. I won’t be needed over Summer so will have full availability for a dogsitting job. I have a DBS certificate and will provide several dogsitting references as well. Please note that I can only watch your pet at your home since they are sadly not allowed in my flat! Looking forward to hear from you
