Bowie's Art Collection

David Bowie art collection to be sold at Sotheby's in November. Is anyone else dismayed

that it will not be contained in a permanent collection in a major city, preferably London?

I'm dismayed at many things I do not have the financial oomph to influence.

Dismayed.. no. It's a collection of art that one man owned (at one point), doesn't mean it should be associated with him in perpetuity.

If it's purely a collection of other artist's work, then I don't see the problem. Instead of the works being in Bowie's home where no one could see them, they'll be in someone else's home where no one can see them.

However, if it's art work by Bowie himself, then I think it would of interest to see them in a public place...

They said on the BBC news yesterday that his art collection is being sold for the benefit of his family.

I'm actually lucky enough to have been invited by a friend to go to the viewing on Saturday morning-

aparently theres an all night viewing Friday into Saturday, we're going at 7.30am.

I don't know how she got tickets but it should be fascinating.
