Went on the new tube at Honor Oak and came home with bagles from whitechaple for breakfast. It was tubalishious! Its a funny link up, a bit of a circle, think Green Park and Bond street are now easy to get to. Anyone else found great days/ evenings out?

PS not sure if calling it the Tube is correct, but i'm just enjoying it! Tube tube tube:))

Edited to add..

Just read train post, sorry did not realise it was such a hot topic.

HOP does NOT have a tube service, its the Overground which currently runs next to and in conjunction with Southern trains. The Southern train stations New Cross Gate to West Croydon have changed from the previous Southern trains franchise to London Overground, so please do not say HOP is on the tube as it ain't!1

Still the old, clanky East London line, with a bit added on to me ;)

Actually, been catching it from Brockley/New Cross to Canada Water via 343/484 bus to get from Peckham Rye to Canary Wharf without going Zone 1 - and it can be faster. Definitly a nice ride and I lke the 'open' structure of the carriages.

You can get to Croydon too .... Is that good :)

Pecanpie, you are getting beigels (pron. bygels) or bagels in Whitechapel, not bagles. The ones in Brick Lane are different to the ones in North London shops like Golders Green in case you ever wanted to do a taste testing. The ones at Sainsbury are absolutely rubbish and are just like a roll with a hole in the middle.

Whilst the new ELL is branded as 'London Overground' the old ELL used to be part of the tube and it is now run by TfL who run the tube. London Overground is run to tube standards - ie stations staffed at all times that trains run etc.

Compare some of the other lines (North London Line, Goblin etc) as they were run - as Cinderella service lines tacked on to franchises - with how they are now under TfL and I think you would find that they are effectively tube lines. More of the 'Underground' is overground than underground anyway. (Can't help feeling that the word 'wombling' should have appeared somewhere in that last sentence).

Is this line going to make it easier to get to the Olympic stadium in 2012? Will it go direct to Stratford or will we have to change somewhere, I like the idea of a direct route to the Olympics - would take out a lot of hassle.

On same subject has anyone signed up for Olympic tickets yet? Does doing so give you any advantage when tickets are released?

No advantage from the pre-registering apart from you get an email saying tickets are on sale I believe. As I understand there are no preferential offers for Londoners despite our paying extra toward it (which I don't mind by the way), and it's against EU law for UK people to have any priority over anyone else in Europe.

    • Oh dear! The general response is that my experience of Jon Hartley is the norm. That’s bad. As an update to my issue with him, Ellie Reeves’ office advised that I contact the Southwark Labour Party Chief Whip in the first instance with my complaint. Coincidentally, the Chief Whip turns out to be Cllr Maggie Browning. She acknowledged my complaint and, in response, said that she had ‘spoken’ to Jon Hartley and appeared satisfied that he’d now responded to me. Not sure that’ s an adequate response, since it seems to been well-known that he consistently ignores constituents. Maggie will know that better than anyone as she’s paired with Jon in our Ward, and she’s having to pick up the stuff which he’s ignoring. As people have noted, Maggie does indeed respond to constituents but she’s now on maternity leave. Alas, I think that means we’re lumbered with just Jon. I’ve bypassed him in respect of my own issue, because I think he’s a waste of my time. In case anyone else should be having problems with him, especially now that Maggie Browning is away, I’d recommend emailing Ellie Reeves MP. Her office is very responsive in my experience and, if she hears from enough disgruntled constituents of Cllr Hartley, I imagine she be quietly speaking to the Southwark Constituency Labour Party about him. Ultimately, if he stands again, he won’t be getting my vote. Be annoyed people, be very annoyed ! Your vote should count for something and the candidates privileged enough to get it should do the job they were elected for!
