My band:

Lead Vox - Sting

Lead Guitar - Steve T (take your frustrations out on your axe)

Rhythm Guitar - James Barber

Bass - Louisa

Drums - Sean (following the Phil Collins template)

Dancer - SMBJones

Backing Vox - Tillie, Rosie H and Daizie (wearing only Aviator sunglasses and a sheet of Bacofoil)

Keef and Mike P - Roadies.

Hugenot and HAL9000 - sit up front and take turns driving the van.

Mockney, I really have to pull you up on the Phil Collins thing. His drumming has never been more than workmanlike as far as I can tell. I challenge you to name a Genesis track which will change my mind.

Not a big Lars Ulrich fan, he certainly hits the drums hard, but there's no flair, subtlety, or inventiveness. I guess their music doesn't really call for it though.

Everett Morton from The Beat... now there's a drummer. Stewart Copeland. Mitch Mitchell. Brooks Wackerman.

Not sure I agree there is no inventiveness, but I can't argue about subtlety. Still, I guess this is always going to be influenced by the music we listened to when we were yoots.

Agree that Copeland is a brilliant drummer. Nice guy too.

I'd have at least changed at least a couple more notes - to be on the safe side. The question is, with it being on CBeebies, would it really be worth suing for the ?20 of royalties?

No youtube at work... will check it out tonight (maybe).

You can?t for a moment suggest that he is some sort of one trick pony. If you look at Metallica?s music over the years he has been extremely versatile shown heaps of individuality in adapting and switching between styles.

Not that I care. Give me Battery or Damage Incorporated any day of the weak.

Drummers eh! Ooomph flap, ooomph flap, oomph flap. Unless you're Billy Cobham or Keith Moon and all over the blinking kit like a lunatic it's pretty much about keeping the back beat like a metronome and let's face it for the most part this is about rock n' roll isn't it? So, ooomph flap, oomph flap, oomph flap it is then.

Mockey... so "Los Endos"... you're right I don't like the song, it's effects-soaked nothingness.

But yes, there is some nice drumming in there. I was impressed with the rolls on the bell of the ride.

"Best drummer ever" though? Not even close. That accolade might have to go to Buddy Rich. Not really someone I'd listen to, but for pure ability, he's hard to beat.

I'm on holiday this weekend so what am I even doing looking on the forum? I haven't got time for this but just wanted to chip in and say that for bass playing and all round GOD LIKE GENIUS, you couldn't do any better than John Paul Jones. He would be my first choice. Like Keef, I'm also a big Jeff Beck fan so I would go with him too. Or Slash. Or Jimmy Page. Dave Grohl would have to be in my band - but there again he would be way too exhausted to play drums. I'd wear the little cutie out. John Bonham was Dave Grohl's hero so I think that basically what I've just done is reform LedZep. But that's a good idea right? Plus I've already got the T shirt so that's one less thing to worry about.

    • There’s a couple of Gov petitions going on in relation to fireworks at the moment but this one is for banning them entirely except organised displays if anyone wants to sign. This is the only sensible way forward in my view. No one should be able to let them off in gardens or anywhere like that, it’s crazy. I am surprised some of you have said it hasn’t been as bad this year. I live near DKH Saino and it’s been absolutely terrible my way for days. This petition gained about 20,000 just in the last day or so so clearly the appetite is there! https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/732559
    • I'd have thought they could use some of  their income from hiring out a large part of Brockwell Park in the summer (therefore, as I understand it, preventing local residents from using much of it) to put on a firework display there  in the autumn which might somewhat make up to those residents for the previous loss of use of the park. And also generate goodwill.

Care to share with the rest of us where  your particular interest in libraries comes from? Do you work in one of them?
