Recomendation for a damp proofer

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to recommend an excellent damp proofer Dave Plastercare: 07932505589

He is local to East Dulwich and very experienced.

He came round at very short notice and identified the problem quickly (we have had other damp specialists, many of which were also on this forum, round who have ummed and arghed and not really been able to suggest much beyond patching up work which hasn't solved the problem) offered a great price and all in all very helpful.

I too would like to recommend Dave Reilly at Plastercare 07932 505589. Dave sorted out my damp wall. He came over to look at it, identified the problem and gave me a price and a date when he could do the work. He arrived on the agreed date, removed the damp, re-plastered and sealed the section of the wall and injected it. The wall is now fine and I have been able to repaint it. Dave was very helpful throughout.

I'd like to add to the recommendations for Dave.

I called him about a damp problem after seeing his recommendations on here. He arrived early, talked me through what he would need to do, caused minimal mess, reduced his original quote as the job was more straightforward than first seemed and gave me free advice on a couple of areas that I was concerned about. I wouldn't hesitate to use Dave again.

I'd also like to recommend Dave. He called me back quickly, and arrived on time, to check out a problem in my Telegraph Hill house and gave me some terrific advice as to how to handle the damp issue. Advised me I didn't need any particular work done (how often do you hear that from a tradesman?)and gave me useful tips on what I should do to fix the small issues myself.I liked his honestly and candour, also helpful approach.

I'd also like to throw out a recommendation for Dave. He popped around when he said he would, looked at the problem, and then ended up giving me 30 minutes of advice on how I could fix the problem myself, half a bag of sand, and some cement waterproofing additive free to do so! Incredible - don't often find that these days.

I definitely advise giving him a call if you have any sort of damp issue.

I would recommend Dave. We had two 'specialist' damp proffers tell us the large damp patch in our kitchen was damp and required thousands of pounds to repair. Dave took one look at it and confirmed it was not damp. A few months later and Dave really does seem to have fixed the problem for about 1/5 of what the other 'experts' quoted us. He has a direct style which I quite like though it is very direct! Would recommend to others.

Echo all of the above.

Dave advised that a 'damp' wall underneath a window in our spare bedroom was a result of us drying laundry in the room without opening a window. A simple condensation issue. Very glad I asked his opinion as a well recommended roofing company told me the problem was being caused by poor external pointing. They were wrong, he was right.

Another recommendation for Dave - he damp proofed and re-plastered our very damp downstairs bay window. He charged a very reasonable price, he was very neat and tidy, arrived exactly when he said he would and the end result is of a really high standard. He's also great at generally giving advice (eg what we'd need to do when putting the skirting board back on) which is incredibly helpful.

    • Perhaps Gooseygreeny was not familiar with the wildlife before Gala was imposed on the park, since when its value to wildlife has deteriorated. The Park had never been disturbed before, as the council had respected it as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation, so only the Common was licensed by them as a site for events. The first time Gala held their event, there was a tree with woodpeckers nesting in it right in the middle of the main field they used and thrushes, blackbirds and great tits nesting within the shrubs and trees immediately surrounding the field. The woodpeckers were thriving on ants from the anthills in the grass. To those of us who used to enjoy watching the wildlife, it was very obviously a Site of Importance for a variety of birds. Despite being accessed by the public and their dogs, it had been relatively undisturbed,  which was one of the main reasons why it was so special and why I have been opposed to the Gala festival being held during the bird nesting season.
    • So dangerous!    Can you be more specific about the road this was in and when you report it?  Maybe there’s some CCTV footage available
