>>Torres' goal was great, so that's a positive. Plus the mancs lost which is always a good thing.>>

Torres looks a fantastic buy - he oozes class and that goal was superb. And, yes, not at all displeasing to see Man City put one over United. There was a smug-git Sky pundit (cannot recall who - to me they're all interchangeable blandies) who asserted that, if the Championship ends up in Manchester this season then it certainly will not be with City. Hmmm.....Ericsson has done an amazing reconstruction job and has some class players whereas Ferguson's stars get themselves injured and/or stupidly suspended all the time.

As for Colin still ranting on against Benitez, he's out of work and has to earn his ??? somehow now you know!:))

Another Lehman clanger...what a beaut. Spurs hammer a toothless Derby County 4-0, Man U lose to City, Torres opens his account with fabulous goal for Liverpool, some terrible refeering decisions in the same match, Newcastle still can't score at home, Terry Sheringham still scoring goals for Colchester at 41, Leeds United making steady progress and is it time for video evidence on the goal lines after yet another "goal" disallowed at Fulham.
What the buggery f**k is going on at White Hart Lane? I can't believe the board are seriously contemplating getting rid of Martin Jol after giving him ?40 million to spend and we're only three games into the season. It's absolutely ridiculous. He's an excellent coach who, if what I'm hearing is true, could be out of a job by the end of the week and replaced by Seville's Juande Ramos. Have the board forgotten the excellent progress he has been making over the last couple of seasons? And the fact we have had so many injuries to key players hasn't helped his cause either. Words fail me. If he goes and I sincerely hope he doesn't, you can bet your bollocks he'll be very successful somewhere else.
Thanks for the link Keef...it's only slightly assuaged my fears. I suppose if he's still there on Sunday and we stuff Man Utd and follow that up with a win against the Scum the week after he'll have the job...oooh at least until the beginning of next season. Hmmm Bellamy...lovely bloke, nice to his mum etc etc.
I tend to agree - even if with injuries and - ahem - "injuries" it looks more like an England 3rd XI than a proper team. At least MacLaren does not go in for the wholesale substitutes in friendliee like Ericssen did. I might resolve not to watch it but know I will not be able to resist a Germany game as the kick-off approaches...

It's on BBC isn't it? In which case I think I'll flick past it every now and then to check the score... Can't afford a big night down the pub because I am about to put myself through a very stupid weekend!

That said, I'm meant to be meeting a mate in the pub at 7 for "an hour", so we'll see.....

I hate to say it, but I think the board at Spurs believed their own pre season hype, and expected to win everything this season. They've now told Jol his job depends on qualification for the Champs League! Talk about run before you can walk, surely an FA Cup win would be okay???

Yeah, don't ever believe the bollocks written in the Currant Bun. I think the board have been very foolish indeed. I think expectations have been way too high and it just adds to the pressure on the management and players alike. If, indeed had Martin Jol been sacked, which is a ridiculous notion at this point of the season and considering how good he's been for us; and then gone onto another club and been successful there, the board would have ended up with a serious amount of egg on their collective face and also, I think the fans would have turned against them too. Jol is very popular amongst us Spurs fans. Martin Jol's blue and white army!

Anyway to change the subject, how the hell does that useless tyke Alan Smith get in the England team? Beats me.

Once again England weren't good enough against the Germans. That's five or six we've lost on the trot at home. Robinson made an appalling error to gift the Germans a goal which changed the whole complexion of the game. All the other British sides won and performed pretty well. Team of the night though has got to be the Republic of Ireland. To win 4-0 in Denmark is a fantastic achievement. Wish I'd been able to watch that instead.

    • 'Many of you have also asked, though, about how you can help ‘welcome’ Donald Trump to Windsor when he arrives there tomorrow (Tuesday) evening. So here’s the plan:'   I'm just watching Trump's arrival at Stansted. Apparently, he's spending tonight at the US Ambassador's house in Regent's Park. Could be a long wait for some quite pissed off people in Windsor. He's not due there until tomorrow.
    • Sue said "But I'm sure the silver tongued Keir Starmer will be able to smooth things over. Not to mention the King and Queen 🤢"  Starmer dithers and is unable to make any decision and when he finally does he gets in massively wrong and duly backtracks. The guy is a liability and clown who the country needs rid off before he taxes us to heaven whilst bankrupting the country.  And as he's flying in and around Windsor for two days, I do hope they've got the skies covered as he's a sitting duck.
    • I assumed that the noise was from Heathrow planes - until the power outage in March that brought everything to a standstill. I still heard plane noise during that time - seems like it's City Airport planes. I wonder whether flight times and patterns can be adapted during the early hours before 6am to minimise noise pollution (e.g. slightly later times and not flying so low).
    • I was replying to Jazzer, who said it wasn't going to change Trump's presence here. However, you are also obviously right, and also  nothing will change Trump for the better. And yes, this could be counter productive. But I'm sure the silver tongued Keir Starmer will be able to smooth things over. Not to mention the King and Queen 🤢  I think it's right that people should feel able to make their feelings known. It appears to be  a peaceful and well planned demonstration, and presumably they won't be bringing out the Baby Trump inflatable again, which must be well deflated by now.
