Terrific first half

I don't think Arsenal have played that badly - just Spurs have the vim and mentality to do this tonight

It's as if they have said "enough" and decided to ply without fear

Arsenal do have it in them to pull goals back in the second half - but I think it's Spurs night

Fair play to spurs, but what the feck was Adebayor on last night? It would be nice to see a Spurs Everton final, but I've a feeling Chavski will be the team facing Spurs and I hate to say it but I can see Chavski winning the final.

Nonetheless, well done Spurs.

Wembley, Wembley! We're the famous Tottenham Hotspur and we're going to Wembley.

Large Jack Daniel's and Coke please LadyGooner.

5-1 to the Tottenham, 5-1 to the Tottenham, 5-1 to the Tottenham, 5-1 to the Tottenham!

Just seen a posting by Spadetownboy re the Arse on another thread. I wasn't going to mention it but as he is clearly one of these Manc loving types (who isn't a manc, doesn't live in Manc chester and so on and so on), it was good to see just how wonderful they are as they were beaten by a team in that home of elite football, Saudi Arabia. Reminded me of the time they went swanning off to South America to take part in a nothing tournament, forsaking the FA cup, only have their collective arses kicked. In the first round. Yes they are truly wonderful. :))

Well no big surprises last night, Spurs will indeed meet Chelsea... I think they will be more heavily supported than ever before in that final!

In other news, Ferguson actually sticking up for Rafa... well sort of. He's bloody right though! (it pains me so much to say that)

Agreed on both counts Keef

Only thing that mars Fergies argument is the way Man U behave - pulling out of the FA Cup? Or going to Saudi to effectively support state-sponsered apartheid (no women allowed watch the game a few days ago)

You know... if he is going to talk about CLASS

Oh! Thanks Tillie...Pity the Lions aren't doing so well but there you go. See you Friday hopefully.

I think Ferguson fully deserves his knighthood in recognition for his achievements in football. You got to admit it really is an amazing record. Only Bob Paisley comes close.

Certainly, playing in Saudi is distasteful and opting out of the FA Cup a few years back weren't such good ideas but I would put that down to the suit and tie Johns at the club wanting to expand the brand.

Still, filled with confidence after Spurs marvellous win against the Arsenal in the week I can't see why we can't go up to Old Trafford on Sunday and beat them on their own turf. We were unlucky there at the beginning of the season losing to a superb goal from Nani, a real bolt from the blue from 30 yards out that Robinson had no chance with.

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?
    • ED is included in the 17 August closure set (or just possibly 15 August, depending on which part of the page you trust more) listed at https://metro.co.uk/2025/07/25/full-list-25-poundland-stores-confirmed-close-august-23753048/. Here incidentally are some snippets from their annual reports, at https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02495645/filing-history. 2022: " during the period we opened 41 stores and closed 43 loss-making/under-performing stores.  At the period-end we were trading from 821 stores in the UK, IoM and ROI. ... "We renogotiated 82 leases in the year, saving on average 45% versus the prior lease agreement..." 2023: "We also continued to improve our market footprint through sourcing better store locations, opening 53 and closing 51 stores during the year." 2024:  "The ex-Wilco stores acquired in the prior year have formed a core part of this strategy to expand our store network.  We favour quality over quantity and during the period we opened 84 stores and closed 71 loss-making/under-performing ones."
