Julio Inglesias, goalkeeper - Real Madrid...apparently or so he says. Never made the first team though and the same goes for Rod Stewart, Brentford, although he was supposedly quite a tasty midfielder.

My mate played footie on a beach in Dubai with Rod (telly producer at GMTV at the time). Said he was an absolutely top bloke, really down to earth.

Strangely enough Julio Iglesias (July Churches, great name) was my neighbour in Majadahonda between 1973 and 1978...can I name drop any more?!!?!

Piers you're right about John Paul 3, he was a goal keeper. I know he played club football, not sure if he was ever capped for Poland though. Gordon Ramsey played for Rangers didn't he?

Conan Doyle was indeed a goalkeeper and one of the founding fathers of Portsmouth FC - when they were an Amateur team (some would say not so long ago) before the creation of the professional club. He was also the chairman at the time!

Was the best final in living memory though, despite the result. I was gutted for Shaka! Watched it in the Gowlett where the owner is a red so kept my allegiance to WH secret (family come from Stepney!)

I was on a stag weekend canoeing down the Wye. After the game got back into our two man canoe for the final leg (about 4 miles), the heavens opened, then I rather drunkenly decided that standing up for a wee was wise, capsized said boat and spent 15 minutes in pouring rain with very irate boat mate dragging canoe onto bank and emptying it.

Not a high point I must say.

But yeah, easily best FA Cup Final in a very long time. Thank god for the Play-offs I say.

RE: That final, I obviously thought it was a great result, but agree it was a great game to watch, and thank God for Stevie G's canon of a boot!

I have to admit I hope Barnsley at least get to the final, they really do deserve it more than anyone else after putting out Liverpool and Chelsea! Fair enough Pompey beat Man U, but they are at least in the same league.

You're probably right about the Arsenal v Liverpool game tomorrow despite me predicting a one-nil win for the Scousers but that's just me being a Spurs fan with a soft spot for Liverpool.

Senor Benitez seems to really get the Pool up for the Champions League to the detriment of their challenge for the Premiership. Hopefully one day he'll have it sussed and bring the Premiership back to Anfield.

I just hope in my lifetime I get to see the Spurs do both as well but I can't see that happening for quite a while yet. In fact I can't even see us being a top four side next season which people seem to have been predicting for the last few seasons.
