flong
What a nice bunch of lads were gathered outside the Tav last night. You could tell with one glance that they were looking for an excuse to kick off, and sure enough, one of them decided to smash an ashtray across a stranger's head at about 10.45 (he looked as though he was too drunk to feel it, but I bet he's feeling it this morning). Fortunately a police car was passing, but the bloke did a bunk and got away with it. Absolute scum - and at the risk of sounding like the Daily Hell, I'd say that gangs of scrotes are cropping up more and more in the pubs on Lordship Lane. Hardly ever saw trouble three years ago, and now I get a ringside seat at some sort of ruck at least once a weekend.(That said, still not as many rucks as in the days of the Forester's, Rosie's and the pool-table-era EDT...) MadWorld74
I agree with you. I've just said on a thead about the hold up at the video store, in the last year that we've been in Ed there just seems to be more and more crime. I almost expect it outside the Mag on a Friday night...but not at the EDT. *Bob*
That'll be the White Stuff-buying three-wheeled pram yummy mummie element for you. Always stirring-up trouble. mockney piers
I bet you they're avid followers of the forum and after reading the many class war threads they've realised "My god, these people are right, East Dulwich has become gentrified and we are essentially victims of economic cleansing.Let's reassert our right to control our destiny, I know, let's hang around outside the Tav and beat up posh people with no accents" Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1220-trouble-at-edt/#findComment-32135 Share on other sites
MadWorld74
That mockney I feel is exactly what is happening.....the 'old' trying to assert there rights as 'locals' on the 'new'... Keef
It's not new at all, there are certain people that have been living here years, who are not new to fights. You just haven't seen it in front of you before. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1220-trouble-at-edt/#findComment-32150 Share on other sites
MadWorld74
I guess so Keef. Where else does it tend/or has tended to kick off before? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1220-trouble-at-edt/#findComment-32152 Share on other sites
Keef
Well the base camp used to be The Foresters (Now The Bishop). But certain lads have gone around and been barred from most of the local pubs, then they'll come back when the management changes, then they'll get barred again.Biggest fight I ever saw was outside The Vale about 3 or 4 years ago. Started with a bunch of lads and the doormen, but then poor passers by were getting caught in the cross fire. Got rather nasty! MadWorld74
I'm surprised you haven't mentioned The Castle. Does that get rough. I won't go in. Not my cuppa tea. Keef
Oh yes, but that's been that way forever! I think it's part of the Castle experience on a Saturday night, get pissed, have a fight, then meet each other for a beer in the morning :)-D Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1220-trouble-at-edt/#findComment-32193 Share on other sites
Jeremy
I've moaned about the Castle before, but to be honest there's rarely any serious trouble (although there was one mass brawl this year which broke out onto the streets). In the context of some other areas I've lived in, I wouldn't really call it a rough pub. snorky
the presence of "posh totty" getting leathered in the LL pubs does encourage these rascals to try their luck on Das Lane Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1220-trouble-at-edt/#findComment-32453 Share on other sites

snorky
I dont know - but surely" posh totty" is all relative - if you are a plumstead scummer, then anyone without tats on their face is "posh totty" Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1220-trouble-at-edt/#findComment-32500 Share on other sites
feedlebra
I have a solution. Hand out flyers for pubs in SE15, there are any number of people enjoying a quiet pint there who are capable of causing quite serious harm to violent scum like that. Send them over, doubt they'll will return. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1220-trouble-at-edt/#findComment-32948 Share on other sites

georgia
Ah Jim Bergerac - I really fancied him when I was younger....We were in the EDT on Sunday - there was a fight and the police were called, by which time those involved had scarpered. It all happens in ED... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1220-trouble-at-edt/#findComment-33135 Share on other sites
mamafeelgood
blimey, living in brixton before landing in this area (that i dare not call middle class for fear of lynching) i would say that in sw2 you didn't even need the pub for the fight. the best place to watch the free head kicking was always outside the ritzy on saturday night. maybe we could get some of the new 16 year old special constables to police our 'gentrified against will' streets of lordship lane area.
