peterstorm1985
Heh, I think everyone's got a bit heated on this so I'll try and bring it back a bit. I live a lot more than 5 seconds from the Adventure Bar, and it's not every weekend, but it's often enough that the designated driver has left his/her car near my house and the drunken passengers vocalise their walk back down our side street. It wouldn't be so bad if there was ambient noise but it's dead quiet here otherwise so their voices cut through the night waking us up. And sometimes they puke up on the way, or have a laugh smacking all the wing mirrors on their way back to the car.If it's a weekend we grumble and go back to sleep - yes we were young once - but the days after Thursday and Sunday will be school nights come September and it's not fair on the kids. Maybe you've not noticed but there's a lot of them round here. Earl Aelfheah
Let's have late licences, but only where a bar is worth spending the extra time in. Adventure bar (who decided that was a good name?) is really very unimaginative. Bring back Inside 72 and let it stay open all night! DJKillaQueen
That will be welcome news for those residents that opposed and it is interesting to note that anti-social behaviour and under aged drinking were cited as reasons in part for refusal.Southwark Licensing do take complaints and breaches seriously so use them if ever you have issues with a licensed premise. wjfox
"... Having heard from the applicant and Mr Blissett, the LSC was satisfied that the applicant had taken satisfactory steps to address the licensing objective of the prevention of nuisance by reason of the escape of music from the premises. Having considered the written representations of local residents and having heard from those residents present, the LSC was not satisfied that the applicant had adequately addressed the licensing objective of the prevention of nuisance in so far as it related to anti-social behaviour as aggravated by the excessive consumption of alcohol."The LSC noted that two sixteen year old girls had recently been admitted to the premises and had been served alcoholic cocktails. The LSC was not satisfied that the bar staff and door staff were taking adequate steps to refuse entry and service to those under the influence of alcohol. The LSC noted that the premises had no outdoor space and that many complaints related to the consequences of drunken behaviour outside the premises and in nearby streets, in particular, fighting, shouting, slamming of card doors, public urination and vomiting. The LSC noted that Mr Jackson (the DPS) visited the premises once or twice a week and appeared to be unaware of these problems which residents stated had been exacerbated since the licence was varied on 20 April 2009. The LSC noted that resident A20 (page 62 of the agenda) complained of nuisance on three occasions when a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) had been granted in July 2010."Accordingly the LSC considered it was both necessary and proportionate, having regard to the licensing objective of the prevention of nuisance to refuse the application in so far is it related to the extension of hours for licensable activities..."
