Dog Owners - Peckham Rye Common & Park

[Peckham green]

This morning whilst walking the dog we found a plate with a large animal heart(raw cow?), a bunch of roses and the remains of a candle and smoked cigars. As the Park office was closed we disposed of the heart in one of the rubbish bins. It looked very ritualistic but may not have had any sinister motives. Location: under the big London plane tree in the centre of the Rye. Dog owners/walkers please be aware.

I do wonder what the motives could have been ,what spectrum they were on ,sinister or otherwise ...

Why would dog owners or walkers need to be aware?

Given the recent death of a dog that apparently ate something poisonous in the park, owners may want to avoid the risk of a dog trying to eat a heart, which might have been treated in some way.

Thank you. It is very useful information. Raw meat also contains parasites. Especially, neosporosis is dangerous in beef.

"Purportedly", not "apparently"??? Was it ever confirmed if the cause was definitively something the dog ate, or where it might have been consumed?

Though I'd agree there are plenty of reasons not to let dogs eat random bits in the park! xx

It was definitely by the playground as confirmed to me from a friend who knows the owner very well and I believe it was def something the dog ate but that's all I can confirm 😫

I heard the most likely cause was anti-freeze the dog drank down near the car park and cafe. So that would not link it with where my dog might (might) have been poisoned.
