Just a heads up to everyone. We had a delivery man knock on our door tonight with 3 pizzas we had not ordered. We told him they were "not ours", he then said there were some youths hanging round outside and he thought itcould be a scam. We invited him in while the guys hung around outside for a while and I called the police. He was a bit scared I think though tried not to show it. I think they would have grabbed the delivery bag and possibly assulted him. If this happens to you keep an eye out for the delivery person and make sure he gets back to his vehicle safely if pos, I felt pretty sorry for him.

Report of a similar case in Peterborough (planned theft of three pizzas after giving a false address which resulted in death of delivery driver) reported in today's Standard:

As a former pizza delivery driver the first thing I was told was you either come back with the pizza or the money, so I doubt it!

Well done to the OP for helping him.

I expect people were saying the same hundreds of years ago, when there were cutpurses and other crims out and about in the streets of London ......

Oh, and highwaymen ..... and pirates ...... no pirates in London, obv ......

Sort of reminds me of the line from 300 (Sparta)

"come back with your shield... or on it"

I love the fact that you, Dave CPR, are so unaware of how another can be affected by something that does not personally affect yourself. Blissful ignorance. Lack of Empathy. Cold hearted.
    • Not fair on the patients or the consultants, either.  My brother's an ED consultant and he is on his knees - they all have the flu but have to work through it, because it's so busy at this time of year. Adding the strike to this just makes everything feel even more impossible and he's pretty low right now.
