Having been a big fan of Northern Soul/Uptempo Motown in the mid-70s, I've started collecting the records I had back then all over again. I'm loving it and have managed to pick-up good quality copies of J.J. Barnes' Real Humdinger, Lorraine Chandler's Love you Baby, Creation's I Got the Fever, Eddie Foster's/Frank Wilson's Do I Love You, Laura Lee's To Win Your Heart & Earl Van Dyke's 6 by 6 - to name just a few. Now, I'm eager to play and share these wonderful foot-tapping tracks. So, I'm wondering if there are other Northern Soul/Motown fans in East Dulwich who would like to meet-up to see if we could get a Northern/Motown night going in the area??

If at all interested, please do drop me a line. I would love to hear from you - even if it turns out it's just to say how much you are a fan of Uptempo Soul, too.

Best wishes,

Andy

Indeed - and they may even be amenable to soul DJs on other nights too. I'd come along... not a soul boffin by any stretch, but I do enjoy a bit of Northern Soul & Motown.

    • The "for sale" section on this forum lets people offer things for free or cheaply. There are also existing schemes like Freecycle, and food banks. Isn't that simpler than having a barter system? You might have something to give away, but the person who wants it might not have anything you want. Or have I misunderstood how it works? I can see that offering services free might not fit into existing schemes, but depending on what they were, what would happen if things went horribly wrong eg someone wrecked your house? Sorry if the above sounds very negative.
    • I'm wondering why they would do that? Because surely positive reviews could only help them, and if they thought they might get negative reviews, shouldn't they have been addressing the reasons that might be (unless someone had an unwarranted grudge against them)? But in any case, how could they have stopped people posting reviews on here? PS I have corrected your typo! 😃
    • Agreed. Just stating as a historic fact they tried to stiffle reviews.
