Post box on Oglander Rd

Does anyone know if this is in use? The label said Saturday (should have said Tuesday according to time I went) for next collection. Or is there a post strike?

And when did collections change to 9 am?

During strikes they generally close the mail boxes physically ie obstruct the slot.

I think they have given up on the "next collection" labels. Part of the un-civilising of every day life. Ditto 9am collections and second deliveries

It was definitely working last week - I posted a letter in it on Wednesday and it arrived at its destination on Thursday! The next collection label was saying "Wednesday" when I posted my letter - maybe the collection on Saturday didn't take place or, if it did, the postman forgot to change the label!

I went there after the collection on Monday would have taken place, so it should have said Tuesday. It appeared no one had been there since last Friday.

Noticed the same on Crystal Palace Road on Monday - box open but label still said Saturday.

I live on that corner and it's definitely in use and collected on most days. Maybe they just forgot to change it.

Postboxes all have a barcode inside them which has to be scanned when the box is emptied. It tells Royal Mail when the box was emptied.

It would make sense for Royal Mail to open source that data to reassure people. flipping those physical things around on hundreds of post boxes must be a faff when under serious time pressures.

I'll dig out my Royal Mail contact and ask them about this post box

Could you also ask about the post box on Crystal Palace Rd too, as mentioned above? Isn't that a different sorting office?
