Recommendation for birthday present for 2 year old

My daughter is 2 on Saturday and I'm wracking my brain for ideas of what to buy her,... and also suggestions for relatives who keep asking for ideas when I can't think of any! I'm sure this makes me a very unimaginative mother but does anyone have any ideas?!!

Anything from the Early Learning Centre - easel with large roll of paper and finger paints on one side and chalk board on the other, pretend things like microwave, cooker, washing machine, iron and ironing board, etc.

Mini micro scooter.

I bought one for my nephews 2nd birthday last year, he loved it (and still does). His 4 year old brother was quite taken with it too!

books are always safe and last long, for examples the ones with magnetic bits they can stick on. and 2 or 4 piece jigsaw with numbers or letters.

I thought it was standard practice that all East Dulwich children received a Mini Micro Scooter in pink or blue for their second birthday!

If they bought it from John Lewis, because they only sell in these colours.

EmmaCC, what about items of clothing?

we got our son a YELLOW mini micro scooter for his 2nd bday from John Lewis - we are rebels, us.

He got loads of books for his birthday. Puzzles are also a good bet. A friend got us a bubble blower but I can't say I expect to use it much. Bath toys are also nice, if you aren't already floating in ducks.
