BeccaL
Has anyone done this, or know anyone who has? Thinking about it before our 5-year-old stops believing, but it's really expensive, so would like recommendations if possible. Ondine
We went twice with canterbury travel. My now 12 year old still talks about seeing the northern lights from the plane. Brilliant both times Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13271-visiting-father-christmas-in-lapland/#findComment-361075 Share on other sites
BeccaL
Thanks Ondine - what age was your child when you went? Northern lights would be a massive added bonus! candj
My sister-in-law took her two kids a couple of years ago during Christmas and they had a great time as well. Her two then would have been 6 and 9 year old. Have a lovely time. snss75
Christmas in Finland is always a good idea!!! I may be a bit biased though as I'm from Finland :)). In all seriousness, a trip to Lapland and Santa's village is definitely an experience even if the kids no longer believe in Santa. There are number of other things to do & see, such as husky rides etc. as well. Hope you have a lovely time if you decide to go! Ondine
Took older when she was 4 and I'd say she was barely old enough that time. She coped and enjoyed it (but was terrified of the huskies) but there were other small children who never adapted to the cold and cried all day.... We went again when they were 6 and 9 (one of the overnight trips) and that was fantastic. We did the husky and sleigh rides, an amazing walk up a snowy path through the forest just in time to reach the top as the light came up, tobogganing, and meeting with Father Christmas, of course. The 9 yr old was sceptical but prepared to go with the flow and the younger one went for the whole thing.
