No, I don't know if it has been scanned. I believe somebody with knowledge of cats could offer to do this maybe? I don't think the staff at Jade will or can do this. They seem very nice but like me they don't know much about what to do and about cats in general. Please could someone offer to take the little thing to be scanned. And treated if needed? I can pay for expenses if needed.

If the cafe staff or someone visiting could call the Celia Hammond trust, they are always happy to come and visit and provide micro chipping scans/ neutering if necessary/ free veterinary treatment/ help rehoming if needed. Lovely people doing very good work.

Hey, I'm pretty certain they still do, they sent two volunteers out to check on a stray cat with a limp that was around my house a year or so ago. Microchip machine might be transportable, and they definitely know how to spot a stray vs an owned cat looking for more food!
I spoke to a female over the phone at cafe, who told me she feels this has gotten out of proportion and that they are quite happy keeping the cat there and that it is well fed. She said if someone wanted to give it a home they would have to be sure it would be a good home, she also said the cat has been there for over a year and lived out last winter. I think the cat is used to being there and is happy. The cafe do not have a problem at all and from what she said on phone, they do not need help, though appreciate the help they were given,re igloo and food. My only concern is cat hasn't been scanned or has it? As I never asked when on phone, so if someone nearby could take cat to local vets, that would be good. Only incase it is chipped and could be someone's lost cat, if no chip, from what I was told the cat is perfectly happy. There are Celia Hammond colony cats who are quite happy living out. I'd offer to take for scan however not sure when. If I take it or someone else here on forum, I'd ask vet to give a worm tablet and flea treatment whilst in there, may as well get that done! Probably only cost ?10. IF cafe hasn't or isn't doing this already. If it's lost and can find owner all well and good, if not, I'd personally leave the cat there as turtle went to check cat and said it looks healthy and happy. Celia Hammond are too busy most times to visit and as a struggling charity neutering clinic, their priority is trapping/ rescuing unneuterd cats. They are so stretched, though would check cat out etc, though would expect the cat to be taken to them. Should imagine this particular cat is neutered as would've given cafe kittens by now and most definitely cafe owners would know if uncastratrc male!, anyone up for popping in cafe and asking to pop cat to lordship lane vets?

Hi, the little cat IS VERY WELL and VERY WELL looked after by Jade's staff.

And as I also was told they at the Cafe don't wan't that much attention to the cat as it distracts their daily work routine, and I understand this fully, my advice would be to write a note to the manager there offering to help with taking the cat to vet etc etc...And IF they want this help they should call our number etc etc...

We should not pop there any more without the aim to sit and have a coffee or something.

We will make the manager and staff even more unhappy.

So lets just give our telephone numbers on a note and say that we're happy to help and if they need something they should only call us.

Would that be ok? They are trying to get on with their work routine and we don't want to be a bother.

So I've done this already, I've given them my phone number and I've asked them to call me for anything the little cat needs.

Thanks again for trying to help. And if anyone finds a good home for this creature that would be what we aimed for here.

    • As a diminutive (5ft 1) woman who regularly attends the park with her four children - all under 5; two of them (twins) in a push-chair - the thread caught my eye. If there identifiable troublemakers likely to be there I want to know what they look like so I can avoid them. Isn't that "strange" of me, wishing to avoid harm coming to my children?? 😲 I have been discussing the ludicrous responses to this thread 🧵 (which I bet £100 exclusively emanate from bourgeois native Brits) with work colleagues (you would be hard pressed to find a more 'diverse' bunch in terms of age and ethnicity - except we are all female). One colleague (a Ukranian lady) made a perceptive observation that everyone seemed to agree with. When British newspapers and news websites mention an offender (e.g. 'police are asking the general public for assistance in seeking the alleged offender who is a middle-aged male'), she always assumes the offender is not of white British heritage since, if the offender is white this is usually mentioned, but seldom the other way around. Until recently racial prejudice was a thing of the past (unless in the most hardcore of families), now it is creeping back and one important factor is the perception that the indigenous general public are not being treated fairly with this sort of dishonest - some would say activist - reportage. An attitude that clearly informed the bizarre claim that my concerned inquiry was  "strange". Fact is it was anything but strange. What is strange is people denying the evidence of their own eyes and - in this case - casting aspersions on a concerned parent.
    • Yesterday we received about 3 weeks worth of post. This included duplicate documents where we'd had to ask for another copy since the first copy never arrived, bank papers, my new driving licence and one mis-delivery.  We'd spent ages in the last few weeks either on the phone or convoluted websites trying to chase these things. I'd rally like to co,plain but have a feeling I'd be wasting my time.
