Free! - Every Session! Fitness & Toning on the Rye - Sat @10am 16 to 60+

Recommended Posts

Hi Kelly, we're trying out a Weds 6.30pm session (it's been a slow build I think because the weather has been so bad) if you want to PM me I can let you know if they are happening!

Also anyone in the group doing Tuesday nights 7.30? I dropped out of this one so not sure if it still takes place?

Siousxiesue is on the mark, Wed at 6-30pm is free albeit struggled with the recent rain.

On Sundays, I've been asked to get the FREE cycle group up and running starting at Goose Green - have a look at the thread: over 6,000 hits, over 101 rides around London and further afield.

Kelly, I do other group sessions which are at a tiny weeny rate of ?5, and also Personal Training at a bit more.

Best!

McCabe.

Great session on Saturday!

The Adductors may be looking for some TLC - these are found on the upper inside of the thighs. Also, some c.600 calories would have been burnt during low impact cardio fitness covering the perimeter of Peckham Rye Park. This even applies for the powerwalkers too as I kept you moving.

Catch you all on Saturday, unless you are tough enough for a Tuesday evening in Dulwich Park, 7-30pm at ?5.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi Val,

If you pop onto www.ahm-go.com and copy the Health Form and email back to [email protected]

Its totally free, just come along with a 1Ltr bottle of water for arm, shoulder and back toning exercise. Also, some change for a tea / coffee at the end.

We work in sections of 300m at a powerwalking or a jogging pace, then at each stop point we undertake some stretching / toning and other fun things. If you want to use the session for speed play, there after the first section you can build your speed up and circle back to the power walkers.

Free, Fun and Friendly :-)

Hi to all,

All things being equal there will be dry weather in the morning :-)

Its my 22nd Wedding Anni through-out this week and specifically today, so we are doing cocktails in Crystal Palace and then over to Numidie which is a Moroccan restaurant.

See you in the morning!

McCabe

A mid-week reminder to have your trainers by the door, and a 1Ltr bottle of water for rehydration along with arm, shoulder and back toning :-)

If you are reading this for the first time, this is the most relaxed and fun fitness group - and its FREE!

McCabe

Hi Dulwichgal,

This is a totally FREE group with a combination of ages and abilities.

We work as a team in sections of 300m to pre-defined points, where the faster ones circle back to the powerwalkers so they achieve c.450m.

A 1 Ltr bottle of water is used for arm, shoulder, back toning and rehydration. At each 3-min stop point we integrate stretching, toning using the benches for dips and the upper back part of the bench for press-ups making them easier. For the legs, we squat, lunge and a few more fun things. For the core, we mainly do this standing up due to dew or wet grass.

And at the end head back to the start point at the caf? on the Rye Park for tea / coffee.

** Health challenges **

I set this up 7-years ago for the fit, the getting back to exercise, MS, diabetics and any other health challenges where you can start off at powerwalking. Pop onto www.AHM-Go.com and copy the Health Form and email back to [email protected].

** Leg / lower extremity issues **

New members with ankle, knee or hip issues can use a bike for each of the 300m sessions - this enables full inclusion.

I hope the above helps.

ps. on a Sunday at 10am my wife takes a similar session in Dulwich Park, its a ?5 pay-as-you-go so there is no lock-in for x amount of weeks - Fitness Julia.

    • I didn't say wedge it "slightly" open. I meant to wedge it fully open.
    • I have a rescue Spanish greyhound (galgo) from the charity mentioned above. You can contact Greyhounds in Need or one of the more local Kent greyhound rescue charities. They are fantastic family dogs. They do love walkies 2 or 3 times a day but they actually don't need to be walked too far and then they will happily loaf around on the sofa being very chill. They are brilliant with kids but not recommended if you own a cat as they have a strong prey drive. They also should be kept on the lead in local parks. They prefer to be around other sight-hounds (well my one does) and there are loads of local sighthound owners in Peckham, Crystal Palace etc and a very lively WhatsApp group that is brilliant if you need dog sitting as you can usually find someone to do that for free in return for you looking after the dog at a later date etc.
    • @Jenijenjen I assure you we are always polite and friendly too! Which is why the behaviour we have been receiving is so frustrating. The kids always leave her with a “Thank you have a lovely day”  Our concern is leaving the gate slightly wedged doesn’t stop the action of slamming it open and closed…still leading to damage
    • If you're talking about who I think you are, I find them more exuberant than rude and usually smiling and polite. But then, I'm usually smiling and polite to them. Can you not wedge open your gate when you're expecting them?
