Fox legal to kill.

It's how you kill.

Marmora Man is right about others moving in.

We certainly do seem to have a population explosion. I've seen five or six different foxes in ten minutes walking along Court Lane, and there are 2 living within 20 yards of my gate. I reckon the traditional urban densities (up to 30 per km2) are being exceeded by a huge margin.

^ your seriously not comparing a family pet to a fox are you???

Foxes are not pets you plonker! They are vermin.... this is my whole point.

With an answer like that, I can only assume that you seem to think foxes are cute 'pet' like creatures.... ?

"your seriously not comparing a family pet to a fox are you???"

No, I'm making the point that it's probably prohibited to dispose of a dead dog or fox in your household rubbish.

"With an answer like that, I can only assume that you seem to think foxes are cute 'pet' like creatures.... ?"

Well, you're wrong, I don't.

Sue, I have reported to the council.

I get a similar response from them as i do from JCTG.... 'it's just not legal!!!'

I've had enough of that crap! they are a pest/ vermin! why should they be given the green card??

Action now required....

Something about feeding the troll.

Just as an FYI, the administrators are required to give up log details to the police if they fear a criminal act has, or is about to take place.

There is easily sufficient data in the logs to cross check with ISPs to identify the originating PC for online postings.

I'm sure it wouldn't then take too much effort to identify the user with the personality of an attention seeking 14 year old boy.

Erm, ok! Troll, 14yr old??? Meh!

Really........

Look, i'm none of the above, although you are entitled to make your own judgments of course...

Firstly i'm not really bothered by threats of the law as they can't seem to find a stolen bike let alone solve any major case of rodent/vermin/minor mammal murder.

For me,my friends next door and across the road. Foxes are a major pest.

And for all the reasons you state above that i am supposedly unable to do anything about it.

....I am!

Because no one else will

That's right pearson, YOU ARE the Enforcer... ridding the streets of vermin, operating outside the law, protecting the rights of the innocent. I'll bet the women swoon when they see you strutting the streets in your big cloak and eye mask ;-)

pearson, you need to think for a moment why putting poisons in publically accessible areas is illegal. Why would the goverment stop us putting poisons where houshold pets and small children could access them?

Why would you think it's reasonable that poisoning cats is okay in your ridiculously poorly informed vendetta on foxes?

You know this is borderline psychotic don't you? You need to keep taking the meds mate.

I know foxhunting is illegal - but is killing foxes in your own garden illegal too?

pearson is clearly demented, and I wouldn't ring the RSPCA because I suspect he is all talk, but if you do have a fox problem, how is it different to any other vermin problem?

PS ? I?m not advocating killing foxes on sight. I?m happy so one in the garden etc etc.

But they are vermin, they breed in the wild and some sort of culling is not beyond the pale. And if people have too many in their garden and want rid of them how is that different from having a mice or rat infestation?

No wonder there are so many missing cats in the area. I really hope one day you'll realise what pain you've caused owners who have lost their loved family pets. Shame people with no compassion like you didn't die off with the old generation. Karma often get's it's way - certainly hope it does with you.

"And if people have too many in their garden and want rid of them how is that different from having a mice or rat infestation?"

Because poisoning them is illegal (unlike for rats and mice). As are most traps (ditto). The only legal traps are free running snares which are probably not permitted in urban areas. In addition, what would you do with the fox after you've caught it in this trap?

    • That is also a Young's pub, like The Cherry Tree. However fantastic the menu looks, you might want to ask exactly who will cook the food on the day, and how. Also, if  there is Christmas pudding on the menu, you might want to ask how that will be cooked, and whether it will look and/or taste anything like the Christmas puddings you have had in the past.
    • This reminds me of a situation a few years ago when a mate's Dad was coming down and fancied Franklin's for Christmas Day. He'd been there once, in September, and loved it. Obviously, they're far too tuned in to do it, so having looked around, £100 per head was pretty standard for fairly average pubs around here. That is ridiculous. I'd go with Penguin's idea; one of the best Christmas Day lunches I've ever had was at the Lahore Kebab House in Whitechapel. And it was BYO. After a couple of Guinness outside Franklin's, we decided £100 for four people was the absolute maximum, but it had to be done in the style of Franklin's and sourced within walking distance of The Gowlett. All the supermarkets knock themselves out on veg as a loss leader - particularly anything festive - and the Afghani lads on Rye Lane are brilliant for more esoteric stuff and spices, so it really doesn't need to be pricey. Here's what we came up with. It was considerably less than £100 for four. Bread & Butter (Lidl & Lurpak on offer at Iceland) Mersea Oysters (Sopers) Parsnip & Potato Soup ( I think they were both less than 20 pence a kilo at Morrisons) Smoked mackerel, Jerseys, watercress & radish (Sopers) Rolled turkey breast joint (£7.95 from Iceland) Roast Duck (two for £12 at Lidl) Mash  Carrots, star anise, butter emulsion. Stir-fried Brussels, bacon, chestnuts and Worcestershire sauce.(Lidl) Clementine and limoncello granita (all from Lidl) Stollen (Lidl) Stichelton, Cornish Cruncher, Stinking Bishop. (Marks & Sparks) There was a couple of lessons to learn: Don't freeze mash. It breaks down the cellular structure and ends up more like a French pomme purée. I renamed it 'Pomme Mikael Silvestre' after my favourite French centre-half cum left back and got away with it, but if you're not amongst football fans you may not be so lucky. Tasted great, looked like shit. Don't take the clementine granita out of the freezer too early, particularly if you've overdone it on the limoncello. It melts quickly and someone will suggest snorting it. The sugar really sticks your nostrils together on Boxing Day. Speaking of 'lost' Christmases past, John Lewis have hijacked Alison Limerick's 'Where Love Lives' for their new advert. Bastards. But not a bad ad.   Beansprout, I have a massive steel pot I bought from a Nigerian place on Choumert Road many years ago. It could do with a work out. I'm quite prepared to make a huge, spicy parsnip soup for anyone who fancies it and a few carols.
    • Nothing to do with the topic of this thread, but I have to say, I think it is quite untrue that people don't make human contact in cities. Just locally, there are street parties, road WhatsApp groups, one street I know near here hires a coach and everyone in the street goes to the seaside every year! There are lots of neighbourhood groups on Facebook, where people look out for each other and help each other. In my experience people chat to strangers on public transport, in shops, waiting in queues etc. To the best of my knowledge the forum does not need donations to keep it going. It contains paid ads, which hopefully helps Joe,  the very excellent admin,  to keep it up and running. And as for a house being broken into, that could happen anywhere. I knew a village in Devon where a whole row of houses was burgled one night in the eighties. Sorry to continue the off topic conversation when the poor OP was just trying to find out who was open for lunch on Christmas Day!
    • We went to Chern Thai for lunch on Saturday, as we have done quite often, and they were closed, with no sign of life. The sign in the window still says Saturday 12-3, and there was no indication that they would be closed. Can anybody shed any light? We went to Chilli and Garlic on Zenoria Street instead. Their falafel salad bowl is amazing (and amazing value!) but we had been looking forward to a Pad Thai and a pint of Singha! ETA: I am reviving this thread because it is/was  specifically about Chern Thai's opening times!
