Weird demonic chanting on Peckham Rye common last night

It happens about three or four times a week, always 3AM, and drives me insane - I already posted about it. Very loud, a bit military drill sergeant, a bit horse racing commentator, a bit mad preacher. Didn't hear it last though which is unusual because it pretty much always wakes me up. I've called the council and they've given me the number for the community wardens who (apparently) can remove him if you call them when it's happening.

Really? I didn't hear it last night either...but I have never heard it before! Your description is totally right. When did you post about it? Wonder who it is? Just some local weirdo? It freaked me out!

I just checked out your post!! YES that's what I heard. I live in The Gardens in one of the houses looking over the common right near the doctors surgery! I was so scared when I heard it. How strange!

I've been tempted to go looking a few times but it's always too late and I can't be bothered to get out of bed. I like the idea of running him out of the park vigilante style though!! Anything for a good night's kip. I've been retiring to the spare room of late to avoid hearing it.

this guy has serious mental health problems and is- I have no doubt- not doing it for fun/to ruin your sleep

I've seen him walking about with no shoes on :'(

I always think of trying to track down the community mental health team at 4 am when he wakes me up but find I manage to forget all about it in the morning :-$

Oh my god - he was at it again last night at exactly 3.30am!! It went on for ages - it sounded like it was right outside my house - I was going to go down and see who the hell it was but I was too scared. Anyone else hear it?

    • I didn’t think so but National Rail planner says 16 minutes, including 5 minutes to change platforms at Peckham. Quite surprising.
    • I want to recommend Derek who has been gardening professionally for over 20 years. He recently did a job for me and I found him to be reliable, thorough and affordable. He is based in SE15 and can do most aspects of gardening be it general maintenance, hedge-cutting, planting, pruning, creating beds etc. Derek: 07376 041 321
    • Hi everyone, Moving to East Dulwich (SE22) from Melbourne, Australia; I've never actually been to the area (husband has) so the only thing i've got to go on is google street view, instagram and a few rogue tiktoks. Looks great though and excited for the move. Any cycling clubs that can be recommended or group rides? I'm thinking Peckham Cycle Club but wondering if there are any others in the area to consider; and secondly, any fenced dog parks / good spots to take our 2x dogs. Cheers!
