From memory, the Michael Bates Indian character in It Aint Half Hot Mum had a role which was to act as a foil to the British Army characters helping to highlight the absurdity of empire and its dominant views.

There were concerns about a white man playing an Indian character but then Ben Kingsley played Ghandi and he for an Oscar.

Is the Goodness Gracious Me sketch "Going for an English" racist? I think not.

I totally agree with Mockney Piers on this one, some people are just too sensitive are going to band Fools and Horses there early 80s serious there was an episode when Del Boy describes an Afro Caribbean women as coloured should that be band no, we have to remember that time period.

I think the "Is he a queer" sketch was very funny! esp the character "Bunny the Frightfull queer"

But what about the poor old poles sketch in the tea shop! leave the poles alone!
