These days police helicopters chasing after scoundrels of various sorts (and even military machines) seem to be a daily occurrence. I'd be slightly more surprised if a spaceship from the planet Nog decided to hover overhead and blast us with death rays.

It was. But relations have cooled since we offered them lemon sherbets rather than lemon sorbet during their last intergalactic twin-town visit.

And there was of course also the issue of their Noggini (offspring) drowning in Dulwich Park. (Which is of course the reason why work took place on the Park to build 12" high fences around the pools concerned. Don't listen to all that nonsense about geese.)

    • Thanks. I'll call them shortly as I could get there without the car.
    • One time Sainsbury's delivered 6 bags of apples instead of 6 single apples which I couldn't possibly get through. I phoned Pecan in Peckham to ask if they would accept them despite their website stating no fresh foods. I must have phoned at just the right time as they were happy to accept them. Sainsburys gave me a refund so the donation was courtesy of them. Or you could experiment with all kinds of apple recipes and write a blog about it
    • There's a food bank off Dog Kennel Hill. Albrighton Community Fridge. https://www.albrightoncommunityfridge.org/ I'm sure they would welcome them, but maybe check first, as they don't actually mention fresh fruit on their website? But apples aren't that perishable. Drop off seven days a week 9 - 5. Be warned if you are going by car, parking can be very difficult, easiest if there are two of you so one person can take the food in while the other can move the car if necessary.
    • Food banks for sure and what about approaching these schools in area that run summer camps - although having said that with health and safety being so strict might not allow it - crazy really.    Can’t remember name of church but was one in Peckham that from memory did a community meal a couple of times a week. Now they for sure would take them and probably Kingswood House as well.
