solar
Have had a leaflet from Southwark Highways through my door.Peckham Rye will be resurfaced between St. Aidens Road and Barry Road on 17th & 18th January from 08.00 to 17.00 hours.Probably best to find another route if possible. sunbob
The road is going to be closed apparently. Crazy to do it during the day instead of night time as is sometimes the practice. solar
The letter says the road is going to be closed, but it doesn't give alternative routes. I suspect one side of the road will remain open while they work on the other and there will be temporary traffic lights controlling the flow. Renata Hamvas
Hi all, the road will be closed for two days. Bus route 363 will be diverted via Barry Road and Lordship Lane. 63s will be terminated at Peckham Rye The bus diversion routes are TFLs decision, not good at all for many residents who use these routes. For those at the Southern end of the 63 route (Forest Hill Road), I would suggest walking across the park and picking up a 343/484 or taking a P12 from Brenchley Gardens.Renata Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/138252-resurfacing-of-peckham-rye-carriageway/#findComment-1093357 Share on other sites

taper
That's very good news. The road surface on that stretch is dreadful. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/138252-resurfacing-of-peckham-rye-carriageway/#findComment-1093512 Share on other sites
trinity
Does anyone know where I can find details of the exact diversion? My young daughter uses this route and I need to talk her through how to get home from school. I couldn't find any info on the tfl website. sunbob
Trinity, the footpath will be open (according to guy from project who I spoke to on the phone today). Could she use that? He also said that even for residents access will be pretty scarce (that is depending on what stage they're at at any one time they may or may not be able to access driveways with motor vehicles). taper
Cllr HamvasAny plans for the road on the east/Nunhead side of the Rye to be re-surfaced? The surface is in very bad shape and not good for cycling. Renata Hamvas
Hi Taper, I had noticed that myself about a week ago and asked Council Officers if there were plans for resurfacing there. I was told no, but now it's being looked into.Renata Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/138252-resurfacing-of-peckham-rye-carriageway/#findComment-1094000 Share on other sites
taper
Thanks. That's good news. I'm an experienced and robust cyclist. But that surface is quite dangerous: lots of pot holes, undulations and tram tracks heading down the hill. rendelharris
Second those thanks Renata, came down there at 20MPH today and the front end gets thrown around like a pinball, had to slow right down then got traffic behind hooting, definitely needs some remedial work. Marcia123
Well I'm glad that people who live near there got leaflets through their door. It would of been nice for Southwark Council to advise the 3 schools 2 of them being primary schools..as we didn't know until the 363 came and after getting on the bus an moving off..oh yes we're on diversion..late for school not acceptable..as school is the top of Forest Hill Road. Why couldn't it have been done on the weekend. Sometimes logic just goes out the window.. Renata Hamvas
Hi Marcia, usually when buses are going to be on scheduled diversion there is notification at bus stops a few days before. If there wasn't, it's the bus company rather than Southwark failing as they are the ones who should have notified passengers.Renata Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/138252-resurfacing-of-peckham-rye-carriageway/#findComment-1095580 Share on other sites
