I've just got back into cycling after coming off my bike 2 years ago. I've been trying to find a good route to cycle to Queen Elizabeth Hospital which is just past Greenwich Park

I'm really happy with most of my current route http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=E+Dulwich+Grove%2FA2214&daddr=51.4663778,-0.0510321+to:51.464064,-0.0383768+to:51.4719268,-0.0318996+to:51.4740025,0.0066575+to:Shrapnel+Close&geocode=FeQ0EQMdxM7-_w%3BFYlQEQMdqDj__yl3c9pBrAN2SDEgVQo5xoUREw%3BFYBHEQMdGGr__ynNdD2yUQJ2SDGg0pWqLa4OEw%3BFTZmEQMdZYP__ynJU5GKWAJ2SDGRF1U5xoUREw%3BFVJuEQMdARoAAClFvk2jLKjYRzHgwwo5xoUREw%3BFSR7EQMd8sIAAA&hl=en&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=4&sz=14&via=1,2,3,4&sll=51.473578,0.025835&sspn=0.031222,0.090895&ie=UTF8&z=14 which takes me past Nunhead then Brockley and then up to the A2.

The problem is that I can't work out anyway to avoid the the A2 at the Depford Bridge junction and up Blackheath Hill. I feel like I take my life in my hands as the road is full of huge lorries speeding in and out of london! It's a real shame because apart from that short bit I like the rest of the route.

I was wondering whether anyone could suggest any alternatives? I don't mind cycling on average roads just not major routes with loads of trucks. The only other route which someone suggested before for getting to Canary Wharf is going around via Ladywell and Lewisham. Something like this http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Elsie+Rd&daddr=51.45169,-0.03952+to:51.4565945,-0.0200039+to:51.476154,0.012916+to:Shrapnel+Close&geocode=Fc84EQMd79D-_w%3BFSoXEQMdoGX__ykt4lYYNgJ2SDGAHJaqLa4OEw%3BFVIqEQMd3bH__ynPV3nSawJ2SDFRF5eyLa4OEw%3BFbp2EQMddDIAACmBbA1_MqjYRzEgs66qLa4OEw%3BFSh7EQMd08IAAA&hl=en&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=0&sz=15&via=1,2,3&sll=51.457991,-0.069609&sspn=0.015616,0.045447&ie=UTF8&ll=51.45743,-0.059996&spn=0.031233,0.090895&z=14 . I haven't tried this one yet as I worry it will add quite a bit of time onto my commute which usually takes me just under an hour - although I'm hoping to speed up as I get fitter and more confident.

Does anyone does know any good routes to Greenwich Park / Black Heath? The route to the hospital after that is quite easy - it's just this first half I can't figure out!

    • I’m currently conducting exploratory research into menstrual health education in UK secondary schools and would really value the insight of PSHE leads, Heads of Year, or pastoral staff.    The research aims to understand:   How the menstrual cycle is currently taught within the RSHE framework Where schools feel confident — and where there may be gaps Whether students are taught and  asking questions around the full menstrual cycle, symptoms, wellbeing and conditions such as PMS/PMDD or endometriosis How schools support students in feeling empowered to understand their bodies and seek help appropriately Whether education around nutrition, lifestyle, and menstrual wellbeing is currently addressed   The long-term goal is to explore whether there is a need for additional, age-appropriate, medically informed support on the menstrual cycle.  I’m not selling a programme and there is no obligation beyond a 30 minute informal chat online (Unpaid). All conversations will be confidential and used only to inform the research. If you work in a UK secondary school and would be willing to share your perspective, I would be extremely grateful to hear from you. Please comment below or email me [email protected] Thank you for the vital work you do. Best wishes, Emma
    • Nice topic and nice song!  1) Definitely top of Canonbie, looking North. 2) What used to be Francesca Cabrini school at the top of FHR. 3) Honor Oak playground, next to Camberwell New cemetery.
