jaybee82
Sorry if this topic has appeared numerous times before, but I've been seconded with the task with organising an office quiz to be held in a few weeks time...problem is I need questions fast (answers would be good, too). I think I've got the picture rounds sorted out but still have Sport, General Knowledge, Food and Drink, Music, TV & Film and 'In The Media' to finish up. Any help gratefully received...especially on the Food & Drink front!Cheers folks!J Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13996-good-quiz-questions/ Share on other sites

Huguenot
"I wonder how they knew that? Phoned home from mid Atlantic to check? Rang the speaking clock?"Not quite, they mainly just looked for anything they recognised on the horizon. The earth rotates at a regular rate, so if you know what time it is according to GMT when you are at noon locally (i.e. the sun's highest point) then you know your longitude.Since latitude can be calculated according to the elevation of the sun or stars, a good timekeeper gave you a good fix.If you keep sailing to the same place, but your timekeeper tells you you're in a different place, then the timekeeper isn't reliable.
