Not yet Karter - but its only day 8. Its quite a revelation actually as usually I spend the weekend wishing I could catch up on some lost sleep but this weekend seemed full of energy. I suppose that's the way it should be.

Dinner Party on the 27th though so thats my target finishing date. The Mrs can cook, I'll get trolleyed.

Hey guys.

Am new to this forum but this thread jumped out at me! Congrats to everyone who is attempting (and succeeding) with No-drink-vember. I always try and stay off the sauce in March and November.... no idea why but it's a good challenge!

If you want to hit November with a double-positive-whammy (DPW) then think about upping your exercise as well as staying off the booze. The results will be incredible, trust me. By putting the extra energy you have, from lack of hangovers etc, into exercise ,you'll make a huge difference to your fitness and general well being......or you can look at it as allowing yourself more drinks over the Christmas period :-)

If anyone wants any fitness advice, help setting goals, class ad Personal Training information then please give me a shout.

Good luck for the next 3 weeks!

I am a bit of a late starter on this one. (Only started as of Monday 8th). However, my Christmas party isn't until the 9th December, so I will be doing a full month.

What's been the worst part for people so far?

I have a night out planned (ages ago) with an old friend in Krakow this weekend, and am almost dreading telling her I am not drinking.

  • 2 weeks later...

Day 21 and still clean as a whistle. 6 days to go until 27th :) Have noticed an improvement in the overdraft this month, many early nights, and a very boring time all round. Have found it easier than previous years though, so thats a good thing.

December is almost fully booked in nights out already. Christmas is coming!

Anyone else doing this or am I on my own?

MickMac - I am sorry, I have been an epic fail. Something fairly stressful happened to me on 1st November and I couldn't not have a drink.

Clearly I am not going to give up for the month of December (although I suppose that would be a sort of Iron Man Challenge in the world of drinking abstension and mebbe something I should contemplate) - so January will be it for me.

Although I am intrigued by Melvyn's first 7 days of each month off method. Perhaps I'll make that my NYR.

Jolly well done to you though :)-D

    • Another recommendation for Niko. Great communication, top guy, and super reliable and skilled - all at a fair price. Takes a lot of care in what he does and talks you through everything.
    • Some foxes are very tame. The foxes that live near the electricity sub-station thing on the corner of Calton and Woodwarde will happily walk up to you/passed you. They are some of the best looking foxes around so clearly being well-fed - glorious coats and bushy tails but interested in humans and keen to engage/be fed rather than being scared.
    • Let’s not all get scared of the foxes now. Most likely explanation is protecting its den or association with food. We have foxes, and cats and they are no bother to each other. The fox will leave when the cats are out.
