Firework displays in ED

We usually go up to Blackheath- just wondered if there were any local displays? Or maybe everybody clubbing together to get something that lasts longer than 5 seconds?

Brockwell Park is usually an excellent display.

It is Free.

Only downside is leaving the park afterwards.

Took me over 1/2 hour to get out of the park.

Looks like there have been some changes to the traffic plan

which may make things easier this year. Assuming it is still

on with all the cuts.

The display just off Burbage Road is usually good fun. Details here.

No Brockwell Park display this year - due to budget cuts apparently.

Very disappointed since we always go there.

Crystal Palace may be the closest to E Dulwich.

I don't think Brockwell Park is on... According to Lambeth Council's website: http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/News/PressReleases/20082010LambethFireworksDisplays.htm

Clapham seems to be Lambeth's only display this year. Shame, as BP fireworks has always been great fun*, and you could usually see Streatham and Clapham's displays in the distance too.

Pretty lame of Southwark to hold their only display at the very northern tip of the Borough. Could have held it somewhere more accessible to a greater number of residents - Burgess Park prehaps?

Southwark Park is fenced making it easier to manage safely.

Burgess Park is unfenced.

Quite a few local displays which aren't free. Burbage Road Sports Club ground - close to junction of Stradella Road. That was really good last year.

Shame we don't have a display in Dulwich Park. I'll ask the friends if they've ever thought of running one with an entrance fee to raise money.

crystal palace costs a fiver, but we're going there as it's close.

blackheath is always good, but a bit of a pain in the ar$e to get back from.

If I were in charge of finance for any local Authority I would keep All the displays.

To pay for this I would simply close a Hospital and a couple of Schools.

How busy is it at the sports club? Do you have to get there early to get in? Just planning ahead as we have visitors and will have some disapointed kids if we can't get a space. It looks great. Thanks.

The Sports Club gets incredibly busy and is likely to be even worse without the Brockwell Park display. It also gets very muddy!

Given local government cuts I'm amazed there are any fireworks at all.

In the past, Blackheath has been joint funded by Lewisham & Greenwich, which is probably why it has been good. Wonder if they've both dropped to half, or if one has pulled out.

Greenwich have pulled out due to cuts, which doesn't surprise me actually, as Greenwich are not the wealthiest council.

Lewisham are asking people to make donations towards it.
